Built in 1839 on an old archery range, this pub quickly became a cherished neighbourhood meeting spot and was frequented by notable locals throughout its history, from Winston Churchill to Tony Blair.

To honour the historical roots of the establishment, offer our take on the quintessential British gastro pub. We aim to be London's only gastro pub sourcing all of our ingredients from the British Isles, and where that is not possible, we look to source ingredients from countries and territories with close links to Britain, such as our lemons from Gibraltar. Our Head Chef champions British produce through culinary favourites such as steak, fish pie, and the classic treacle pudding.Our unique drinks & wine list is also fully sourced from sustainable vineyards, breweries and distilleries across Britain

Very nice pub...But more of a restaurant feel. Great customer service. Food was delicious. Deserts especially Lovely location and ambience.Had a great deal with time out But would return again.

Met a friend here for lunch on a quiet Monday. The food from the set lunch menu was excellent and the service warm, friendly and prompt. A great find, would definately recommend.

I was very very disappointed in my meal, I ordered the bubble and squeak and the portion size was ridiculous. The mashed up bubble and squeak was the size of a small apple definitely not worth the price. I would not recommend it.

Food fresh, and tasty. Good portions, and well presented. Service was attentive and accommodating. Lovely historic location next to the stables.

Amazing place ! We loved the atmosphere and the attentive service. Our servers were Aimee, Habib and also the manager ..wish I could remember her name ! The food was amazing and so were the drinks . I had the Salmon and my husband had the fish and chips ( best he has had in London ) and for dessert we had the toffee sticky pudding. Highly recommend as the atmosphere is beautiful and the service attentive.

Cosy place, nice staff, but food quality not as expected. The rib eye steak was very tender, a good piece of Meat inders, but burned so severely that it tasted of charcoal, and this was even before we had to send it back because, although burned on the outside, it was extremely rare, close to raw, and we ordered it medium. The French fries I believe came premade from a plastic bag. My lamb shoulder on the other hand was delicious! Only there were nothing green on the plate at all, just Meat, potatoes and gravy - I had expected a bit more finesse. The etons mess was not nice, no fresh fruit, mostly Black current jam with mareng and an absurd amount of whipped cream.

Really lovely food. Staff friendly. They were short staffed so had to wait a little longer than I would except for our drinks order and the bill. Otherwise all good.

The interior and setting is very nice. The food is pricier than the dishes themselves merit. The service was very friendly but quite slow and patchy - not very attentive and had to ask twice/remind on things we'd ordered. I wonder if seating people outside doesn't work for them, or if they had new staff on. I would reiterate that they were very nice and friendly. The wine had been stored somewhere very warm - it was almost tea temperature, and had suffered a bit for it. The setting was nice enough that I'd give it another go, but I wouldn't be 100% confident in doing so.
