Built in 1839 on an old archery range, this pub quickly became a cherished neighbourhood meeting spot and was frequented by notable locals throughout its history, from Winston Churchill to Tony Blair.

To honour the historical roots of the establishment, offer our take on the quintessential British gastro pub. We aim to be London's only gastro pub sourcing all of our ingredients from the British Isles, and where that is not possible, we look to source ingredients from countries and territories with close links to Britain, such as our lemons from Gibraltar. Our Head Chef champions British produce through culinary favourites such as steak, fish pie, and the classic treacle pudding.Our unique drinks & wine list is also fully sourced from sustainable vineyards, breweries and distilleries across Britain

    Our Head Chef has carefully crafted a select variety of dishes showcasing quality British produce, including vegetables from local allotments and fish fresh from the Atlantic. Where we are unable to find an ingredient in Britain, we look to source them from countries and territories with close ties to us, such as our lemons from Gibraltar. We offer a selection of sharing dishes and light bites if you fancy some nibbles with your pint, or opt for our tempting main dishes featuring favourites such as Fish & Chips, Steak & Kidney Pie, and of course a classic roast dinner which is served every Sunday. We are delighted to offer our lunch menu with either 2 courses for £14.95 or 3 courses for £18.95, available Monday to Saturday.

                                                A second visit to meet friends in London confirmed that this is the place to do it. Service and food was outstanding and the atmosphere great. We love that it is so close to Paddington too.

                                                Had an amazing time at The Stablehand. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The scallops were full of flavour and the slow roasted lamb shoulder was amazing! I will definitely be returning!!

The smoked salmon starter was fresh and perfectly balanced, the roasted cod main was tender and rich with earthy flavours, and the rhubarb Bakewell tart was a comforting, sweet finish.
