Built in 1839 on an old archery range, this pub quickly became a cherished neighbourhood meeting spot and was frequented by notable locals throughout its history, from Winston Churchill to Tony Blair.

To honour the historical roots of the establishment, offer our take on the quintessential British gastro pub. We aim to be London's only gastro pub sourcing all of our ingredients from the British Isles, and where that is not possible, we look to source ingredients from countries and territories with close links to Britain, such as our lemons from Gibraltar. Our Head Chef champions British produce through culinary favourites such as steak, fish pie, and the classic treacle pudding.Our unique drinks & wine list is also fully sourced from sustainable vineyards, breweries and distilleries across Britain

                                            A bit disappointed as the food was seemed overpriced for what we go - like the lamb shoulder dish, if you're charging £20 plus I would expect some veg on the plate or be generous with the gravy. Also to only offer broccoli as the "seasonal veg of the day" is not great, I feel more effort could have been made in offering maybe a trio of veg or have some veg included as part of the dish. Seemed quite stingey on all honesty. Also I appreciate its the festive period but it was very noisy as there were 2 Christmas Party bookings in the same area as us (large groups of 10+ people). It would have been nicer to seat us (party of 4) around the other side where is was quieter - that way I wouldn't have had to shout just to be heard! Perhaps staff just haven't been trained to assess the situation like that and make common sense decisions.

                                            It was our first visit to the Stablehand as we have just moved into the area. So happy to have this as our "local". Will definitely be visiting often. The food was great, service fantastic. A real little gem

                                            An outstanding evening. Everything perfect ! Icing on the cake is the friendly warm informal service. Amy was just the most exceptional host. Delightful young lady. Service is king but the whole meal experience is quite exceptional!

                                            A wonderful pre-Christmas meal with my mother and sister. A fantastic place to dine quietly, in a comfortable atmosphere with attentive but not over-bearing staff. The food was excellent. Highly recommend.

                                            Great, friendly service and very good food. Each dish was great. We had the Brie with cranberry sauce, Sunday Dinner and Toffee dessert. Would order them all again!

                                            The food was incredible. The soup of the day (which was butternut squash) was a little too salty- but it still managed to be the best soup I’ve ever had! We also had the scallops, grilled bread, roasted lamb and fish and chips which were fantastic. The only thing I’d say is that it was too dark, it would be even better with a bit more warm lighting. Our server was really nice and helpful.

                                            Very friendly welcome and staff. Was dining on my own so was lovely to sit at the bar and enjoy the atmosphere and chat to the lovely bar lady. Fish pie and the side of brocolli were absolutely delicious. I look forward to going back sometime soon.
