A beautifully set local pub serving good food. We were however a little disappointed with the service and the value. We had to go find staff a couple of times for ordering and drinks and the waiting staff could not tell us what was gluten free - they asked us to scan a QR code but with no mobile reception and the need to give details to connect to the wifi made this difficult. We did get there for mains but then had same issues with dessert and were told that a dessert containing waffles was GF, which it wasn't. We felt that main meal portion sizes were on the small side, especially for a couple of the choices. Overall we did have a lovely evening but could have been even better!

Our family party of 7 varied in age from 13 to 93 years and The Squirrel menu offered something for everyone. The choice of dishes was as diverse as the age range and we chose smoked salmon (a very generous portion and high quality salmon), fish & chips, steak sandwich, chicken burger, chicken schnitzel, wild mushrooms on toasted sourdough with mozzarella, spinach and poached egg and a fish finger sandwich. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal, although my sister was expecting the fish finger sandwich to include traditional breaded fish fingers, rather than fish in batter, which she found rather greasy and thought it didn't work so well as a sandwich. We ate outside under a canopy and were pleased that we were able to sit on chairs rather than benches. It was a rare sunny and warm day and it was in a lovely setting. My relatives commented how lucky I was to have The Squirrel on my doorstep! The service was excellent. Everyone was very friendly, helpful and attentive. I was also very impressed that they took the trouble to call me prior to my visit to advise that the area I'd originally requested wasn't available, but I was offered different alternative tables, which turned out to be great.

Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Food was delicious, and very good value for money. Even though it was Father’s Day we didn’t have to wait long, service was outstanding and the pub is a fantastic venue!

We’ve been coming here for years and the pub continues to impress. A beautiful part of the country, and there’s something quintessentially English about the local cricket team playing opposite you against the villagers on a Sunday. Only shame is they seem to have removed the wooden climbing frame and bouncy castle that used to be a staple for our kids and one of the big drawers of the venue for families in my mind. The food and service however is outstanding.

Went for a birthday party with family. Very accommodating and food was excellent. Love the welcome and friendly atmosphere. Been here a few times now and would recommend for a decent selection of beer and great food. Didn’t have the wine I wanted on the menu, but they found a very decent alternative! Pay them a visit, good location and a good time had by all.

We were well looked after and given a warm welcome. It was a Monday so quite quiet and clearly there had been a busy weekend.

Our first visit to The Squirrel. What a pleasant and welcoming pub it is. We had Sunday lunch, delicious. Jo and her staff looked after us well. It is now our favourite pub to visit , every time!
