Beware of booking here! Not enough staff, over 10 mins to be served at the bar. Really poor food with items missing despite asking us for a pre order. No mozzarella on my mushroom starter, as per menu, and calamari not crispy. They'd run out of mushy peas for my pre ordered fish and chips. Pie was meant to come with mash but turned up with microwaved dauphinoise that tasted like it was from a discount supermarket, and the gravy was gloopy and weirdly sweet! Wine we wanted (Viognier) not available. After 9pm all patrons asked to go inside, due to residential area. While this is understandable, unfortunately it meant the volume levels were crazy and it was impossible to hear each other. Staff tried their best, but clearly some major issues to get sorted here...

Don’t book here for football it’s on about a two minute delay. Always try to give this pub a chance it is lovely for drinks but so unreliable, previously booked table for 8 to eat turned up and told only 3 pizzas left, and they burnt one! Great for just drinks (if don’t mind random closing very early)

Arrived at 6pm and ordered drinks. 20 minutes later was informed that because they were quiet they were shutting at 7pm. No time to order food or enjoy meal but APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Unfortunately we arrived for the ‘post marathon’ experience having had someone in our party run the marathon to be told the kitchen was closed. We had booked and had our booking confirmed. As you can imagine we couldn’t find anywhere else to eat near the station. It was a disappointing end to Marathon day.

We had a group of 18 friends for Easter Sunday lunch. From the start the manager was on the ball… they took our pre-orders for lunch a few days prior by email and in one case they notified me that one of the soups was not going to be available ahead of time and offered us a substitution ahead of time. On our reservation day/time our table was all set up and they were ready for us. Everything was seemless with our food and beverage delivery! The food was good - not one complaint from any of us! The staff was very attentive and friendly and highly social with our group too! I would highly recommend this tavern as they did a wonderful job with our group lunch!

Biggest scam ever. What should have been the perfect christmas diner turned out into a complete failure :-( The reception: We came in at exactly 18.30 hrs. The staff was busy and unorganized. We were completely ignored. After 5 minutes standing in the middle of the restaurant we pulled a waiter (who passed us several times) towards us to make him clear that we had an appointment. He put us on a table in the corner of the restaurant without asking our names. The service: Nobody seemed to care about our presence. It was very hectic and there was no food coming out of the kitchen, leaving people to wait extremely long. After 20 minutes we asked for drinks and they came fast. At 20.30 hrs (two houres after arrival) we did not received anything to eat. No starters, no bread, nothing. After we complaint to the staff they promised us that our first dish should come quickly. They also apologized. The food: We made a reservation for four times the Chrismas menu (90 pounds each with a 100 pount total deposit) and we gave our preferences in advance so they knew what we were going to eat. 15 Minutes later the dishes of "three wayes of salmon" and "halumi fries" arrived to the table. There were in fact only two wayes of salmon present and to be honest, it looked like the plate was made up by the dishwasher. Even I can do better. The "mushroon risotto" that was mentioned on the menu as "to begin" was nowhere to be seen and also not available. The end: We made the decision to leave the restaurant. The people behind us received their Christmas turkey and the view of this plate took away any left over confidence that this could turn out to be evening that we had in mind. When we left the staff told us that we had spent 153 pounds (a couple of drinks, a bit of salmon and halumi fries). So their suggestion was that if we did not make a claim on the refund, they would not charge us extra. Because my wife did not want me to make a situation we agreed and left. Never again

We booked a reservation for Christmas dinner here on our vacation to London; looking at pictures it seemed to have a great ambience that was a perfect fit for our mental picture of what Christmas dinner in a London pub would look like. It certainly delivered on the ambience -- it is a very cute pub in a quiet square, and it felt very cozy and Christmasy inside. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was fairly poor, mainly due to the place being severely understaffed. I'll start by saying that the people who were there working were doing their absolute best, but they were set up to fail. I had read other reviews of this place complaining about similar issues, but ignored them thinking they would surely make sure to be properly staffed when serving a set Christmas menu at a fairly hefty price. The guy who seemed to be running the show (although he indicated that he had been called in as backup from another restaurant) said that a bunch of people had called out -- which I get, it's Christmas, people don't want to work on Christmas. But if you're going to open your restaurant on Christmas and take as many bookings as they did, you should really make sure you can get more than 4-5 total people to show up to work that day. The food we did get was good, but a couple of courses were missed out entirely and we didn't even bother saying anything as the courses we did get took around 2 hours to entirely be served. Thankfully, they did comp our beverages (they initially offered to comp one round, and only comped everything when we pushed back), but I would much rather have paid for my beverages and had the experience I was hoping for.

Very nice food and ambience. It was a little bit pricey but we understand the price being Christmas Day. Only negative was no pigs in blankets but I'm sure they'll have those next year. Overall we really enjoyed the Christmas Day food and very friendly staff that were working that day. We were on holiday visiting family however 'd definitely recommend this place for food and drinks to anyone that either lives or is staying close by
