Nestling beside Seaton green and just 50 yards from the beach, The Smugglers Inn is a family and dog friendly pub that prides itself on offering a traditional selection of classic pub fayre, cooked by our enthusiastic team of chefs, using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.

Along with the classics, we have a continually updated Specials Board where our chefs love to show their flare and creativity.

The highlight of our culinary week is undoubtedly our Sunday Carvery. Routinely described by our regular customers as ‘The best roast in the area’, with a selection of 3 roast meats, crispy roast potatoes, an amazing selection of 7 vegetables, plus homemade Yorkshire puddings and gravy, it is a truly sumptuous feast to end your week!

Vegetarians are also well catered for, with many of our dishes available with a vegetarian option, including our carvery which comes with TWO homemade vegetarian choices – a delicious nut roast and a vegan lentil roast.

Food was just OK - Wetherspoons quality but much higher priced - yappy customers dog - staff were good…would I go back with friends, probably not - maybe it was just an off day as weather was poor and pub was quiet in the mid afternoon….

The service was very slow, while one dish of food was good the other was burn & dry with a curry sauce that was cold & too thick. Had to chase waitress for clean cutlery & side order It has to be said our experience on Sunday was very different & the food is delicious

It was a very busy day with the pub buses going on but the staff were really fast and efficient and we were very happy. Food was great as always

Huge all day breakfast was lovely and hot. My wife had a steak of which was totally consumed. very good helpful staff. Very good lager and my wifes still cider was really nice. It is a lovely place to go to, you will enjoy if you choose too.

service was incredibly slow, we waited 45 minutes, I think they forgot our order until we enquired about it. Place is full of dogs and they're barking and snarling at each other. Food was greasy and made with low quality ingredients, think burger van beef burgers. Very expensive for what it is. First and last visit.

Thank you for your review. We were incredibly busy at the time of your visit, and there was a sign at the side of the till indicating that food was taking 30-45 minutes to be prepared, since we cook all of our fresh, high quality food ingredients to order. Specifically, our beef burger patties are 'Taste of the West' gold award winning products, and most definitely not burger van beef burgers. We are indeed an extremely dog friendly venue, being as how we are at an all-year-around dog friendly beach. We do ask all our visiting dog owners to keep their pets quiet and under control. If you are not comfortable in a dog friendly environment though, then we are most definitely not the right venue for you.

After seeing rave reviews on google, we decided to book. Unfortunately the food was not to our taste. The food was very cheap quality. O suppose in line with the value of the food. The burger I had , continued to repeat on me all night. One of the Chilli meals was cold and watery. Drinks were fine but took a while to come out. Bar staff were friendly but not enough to come again I’m afraid.

Thank you for visiting and for your review, and we are sorry that our food was not to your taste, as the saying goes, you really can't please everyone. However, we do find it strange that you question the quality of our food; To use your items as examples, our burger patty's are a premium product and have a Taste of the West gold award, and all of our Chilli's are prepared using locally sourced, quality fresh ingredients. We certainly could use much cheaper products and charge less, but this is not the way we operate our business. In regard of your drinks taking a while, it is true that we were extremely busy, it was Father's Day which is our second busiest Sunday of the year, and we catered for over 300 visitors on that day, so there were occasional delays to our drinks service.

Been dining here for years, only started using app recently so know this venue well. Always Great food and friendly place to be. The service has also always been Patchy! Have failed to bring drinks with meals, forgotten cutlery so food cooling whilst we wait yet always insist in table service? Yesterday was no different, food and food service at carvery Excellent! However… young lad forgot spoon for dessert which was cooling by the time we found a spoon ourselves, I did ask him twice. Overall though, and I do consider that at times you are busy, not always though.. I still love The Smugglers Cheers
