We just LOVE The Smith! We never have anything short of a spectacular experience there—from a welcoming, efficient, and accommodating staff, to the food and the ambiance! Last evening, we sat outside in the meridian. We had a spacious, wonderful table and a great server. We always love how they don’t make a big deal about what type of water you want. They just place filtered still and filtered sparkling water in large bottles upon the table. My partner had what he almost always gets: The Smith Burger. It was cooked to perfection. You had better believe if it wasn’t, they would make it again. Quickly. But it was perfect and the fries were crispy and flavorful. I had the roasted salmon on a bed of fava bean hummus with cucumber yoghurt and terrific zucchini croquettes. It was a magnificent dish! All the flavors worked so well together—topped with chopped mint, which was a great touch and melded all the Mediterranean flavors . I asked for anything spicy on the side, as well as the raw onions. The cocktails were also great. Everyone was so nice and we loved the action on the outdoor meridian. Just a superb evening!! Thank you, The Smith!

I felt discriminated. On surface the crew appear nice but we waited unnecessarily when I had reservations and clearly there were many tables open . I understand they seated other people but why do I have to wait another 10 minutes when there were no one else waiting and many tables open . Then our party of 4 were seated at a very small table in the middle of high traffic area when there were clearly many open tables with more space , comfort and privacy. The tables next to us were served bread and we weren’t. Food was ok but the experience was not worth the $$$$.

There were two little kids literally playing catch with a rolled-up paper towel/napkin while their oblivious parents and staff walked by and did nothing. I don't mean quietly at their table; they were literally RUNNING back and forth in the middle of the floor, tossing to each other and chasing their paper ball. The paper towel/napkin could have easily made its way onto our table and our plates. It constantly landed underneath our table, and the kids crawled under the tables of others to retrieve and continue their game. I had to ask our waiter why the kids were allowed to be playing catch in the middle of the floor. He looked like he did not want to say anything, but he spoke to them, and they stopped. it boggled my mind why no staff member, including the manager, did anything about it - even while walking back and forth past them. This was my second time dining here and if this is what they allow, then I will likely spend my money elsewhere. The food is decent, but not worth it to have a free-for-all spectacle as a side to my meal. The dessert menu was not extensive. They did not check me in for my OpenTable reservation meaning there are no points associated with it. I even got an email several hours later saying they canceled my reservation which I was clearly seated for. It was not busy and most tables were not occupied.

We had a wonderful time! I loved my kale salad, and my friend totally enjoyed her pasta dish. For dessert, the ice creeam sundae was superb and enormous. The staff were lovely: one of them overheard either my friend or I mention my birthday -- and they sent us off with three enormous chocolate chip cookies. A fabulous treat! Thank you!

We appreciated the attentiveness of the staff and the overall service, even on a busy Friday night. When we asked for more bread because the pasta was oversalted, our server immediately suggested that we send the dishes back to the kitchen and have new ones made. The new dish arrived shortly after, and the manager came by to apologize.

The service at this location is stellar. The waiter, runners, and host staff were truly phenomenal. It is so refreshing in Manhattan to be treated kindly and professionally by an entire staff.

delicious all around. Always a great choice. The steak frites and fries are always a hit! The mac and cheese and the mussels are always a treat!
