Casual, coastal restaurant in the North Loop. Reservations taken for dining room only, patio seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. Please check in with hosts upon arrival for patio seating.

Although named for the boats used to catch lobster, Smack Shack was launched as a food truck in 2010 serving lobster rolls from a land-locked downtown Minneapolis parking lot. Owner Josh Thoma had a great recipe and a belief that appetite for fresh lobster in the Twin Cities was as strong as any coastal city.

Smack Shack is committed to serving sustainable seafood and is a current partner in the Minnesota Zoo’s Fish Smart program. Sustainable seafood is wild caught or farm raised seafood that has established practices to ensure the long term growth and thriving populations of seafood with limited harm to the environment.

Delicious seafood dinner! My son had the seafood boil with a whole lobster, and I had a lobster roll. Great and fast service!

Always such a fun time going to the Smack Shack. The lobster guacamole is delicious! The Connecticut lobster roll was okay, but wouldn’t order again as it was very dry. The bussel sprouts side are to die for!! The lobster risotto is always a good choice. So much fun spinning the wheel!

A favorite for seafood! Excellent service makes it a very pleasurable experience! Food was great as usual, did not disappoint. Will continue to frequent this establishment!

The food was phenomenal. There is no other restaurant like it around. Had an explosion of flavors. Recommend to seafood lovers.

I love their lobster rolls…and order the warm lobster with the milk toast, an option not on the menu. The wait staff was so fun and competent.
