Casual, coastal restaurant in Bloomington. Reservations are taken for the dining room only, patio seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please check in with hosts upon arrival for patio seating.

Although named for the boats used to catch lobster, Smack Shack was launched as a food truck in 2010 serving lobster rolls from a land-locked downtown Minneapolis parking lot. Owner Josh Thoma had a great recipe and a belief that the appetite for fresh lobster in the Twin Cities was as strong as in any coastal city.

Smack Shack is committed to serving sustainable seafood and is a partner in the Minnesota Zoo’s Fish Smart program. Sustainable seafood is wild-caught or farm-raised seafood that has established practices to ensure the long-term growth and thriving populations of seafood with limited harm to the environment.

We made our reservation through Open Table for June 30th at 1 pm. We were immediately seated. Our server was very attentive to us throughout our meal. Our meals were delivered to us within a reasonable time. Other help staff refilled our water repeatedly and removed our empty plates promptly

Great lobster rolls but the price is getting out of hand at $33. The 6% fee for health benefits doesn’t help the value proposition either. Smack Shack is now relegated to my “special occasions only “ list.

I came her to see Debbie Briggs. Her and the band were great. Though I think it could have been a tad louder. The food was quite a pleasant surprise! We had the blackened catfish and the LGBTQ sandwich. Both types of old fashions we got we're also good. Overall a great first experience. Thank you!

It was not incredibly loud, the server was not Kay. The food was overpriced and mediocre at best 🥲
