The Slaughters Country Inn offers delicious food, simply prepared, using the finest Cotswold produce. The menu is complemented by a wide selection of local ales, showcasing the best the region has to offer.

Not to be missed is the sharing platter, made up of local cheeses and meats, the day’s selection of breads and The Slaughters Country Inn pickles. Guests can also expect to see dishes on the menu such as Gloucestershire black pudding salad, rustic country terrine and local fish and chips.

Afternoon tea, including home-made scones and sandwiches, can also be enjoyed on the terrace with a glass of Champagne in the summer months or by the fire with a pot of tea when winter draws in.

We chose the Slaughters as we were in the area and wanted a pleasant lunch Service and atmosphere in the restaurant was good. Food was acceptable but not outstanding. Although the plates were hot when we received them the food became cold quite quickly which was disappointing. I did not feel the waiters connected with us in any way which would have been nice as there were not many folk eating at the time. Maybe not another visit there!

Absolutely charming place, so typical of a Cotswold hotel. The service was superb as it was friendly, personable & achieved the balance between attentive but not intrusive. The food was amazing & delicious. Our party was 3 generations with a 7 year old & toddler but all of us had great choice. It was a shame the weather was unkind as I am sure the gardens are a delight to enjoy. Finally - genuinely dog friendly! With stone floors our wet spaniel didn’t receive a cold shoulder welcome. First time visit for us but will definitely be back

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful country hotel. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and well appointed. The dinners and breakfasts were delicious, the staff were friendly and their service was excellent. Would most certainly want to stay here again.

I love this place I have been hete many many time as its local to me. Staff is amazing, food and service is just perfect!!

We have a huge volume of guests that visit us daily throughout Summer, with most leaving us very happy indeed, therefore to hear you did not is very disappointing. This was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in and none of the family wanted to leave. All the staff were fantastic, but in particular two of the male managers were particularly good. The hotel is beautiful and is situated in an idyllic Cotswold village, so it was lovely to be able to stroll up and down the river and admire the cottages and lovely church. The gardens of the hotel are lovely to stay in. The suite that we stayed in worked particularly well for us as a family, comprising of 2 bedrooms (so the children could still see us if they needed to) and then a lounge and bathroom downstairs. All were tastefully decorated and modern, whilst still maintaining the beautiful period features of beams, sloping ceilings and leaded windows. We also liked the fact that we could come and go via our own outside staircase. The food and wine were a particular highlight. I would particularly recommend the chicken parfait, venison and the coconut panna cotta. The children were well catered for too and they enjoyed their sweet shop ice cream and fudge brownie sundae. We all enjoyed our breakfast. I had the eggs Benedict twice and liked the addition of the basil oil - an unusual touch. We also found The Slaughterhouse Inn perfect for visiting local villages such as Stow-on-the-Wold, Burford and if you are Jeremy Clarkson enthusiasts like us - The Farmer’s Dog and Diddly Squat Farm. We really couldn’t rate the hotel highly enough:-)

Recommended by a colleague and it didn’t disappoint. Beautiful setting, really friendly and helpful staff. Prompt service, good food, lovely ambience and very clean. The building and grounds are picture perfect. I look forward to returning.
