Welcome to The Sidings, a unique destination brought to you by Carriages Restaurant. Nestled amidst serene landscapes, The Sidings combines a farm shop and café to offer an immersive experience for train enthusiasts and culinary connoisseurs alike.
Our exquisite First Class carriage café, adorned with elegant art-deco elements, provides a one-of-a-kind dining experience from 10am – 4pm, Wednesday to Saturday, and 10am - 3pm on Sundays. Our carriage Farm Shop, open from 10am – 6pm, Wednesday to Saturday, and 10am - 4pm on Sundays, features fresh, seasonal, locally produced products, ensuring quality and sustainability.

You can book a table for inside the café, however walk ins are welcome.
We are only dog friendly outside on a lead, unless they are a service dog.
Smoking is not permitted on site.

Lovely surroundings in the carriage, good coffee, friendly staff, tasty cake. I will definitely be taking friends there again.

Lovely setting only spoiled by the surrounding buildings. It's a great idea, good was great and staff very friendly and patient.

Waited 45 minutes for a coffee, no milk for another 20 minutes. Table behind had the same experience. Such a shame as the place is absolutely beautiful and so well presented.

It was lovely having brunch at The Sidings, eating in a railway carriage, all nicely done and different, I had the pancakes with summer fruits which was gorgeous, my husband had the meat platter which was lovely but he did miss a little rocket salad and some sort of bread but still really enjoyed it, my son had the eggs benedict which he said were amazing and his girlfriend had the pancakes and loved them. We bought some things from the farm shop after which is also a railway carriage! Great experience!

I recently visited The Sidings and was pleased with the quality of the food, which was delicious. However, I did notice that the staff seemed a bit inexperienced and still getting accustomed to their roles. Despite this, the service was still friendly and welcoming. I have no doubt that once they settle into their positions, this will become an excellent spot for breakfast. With some fine-tuning, I'm confident that they'll be serving up top-notch meals and an exceptional dining experience."

An amazing find! No expense spared in creating this new adventure. The food and service was great cannot wait to go back to try something else. The outside area is equally as stunning if you cannot get a seat inside the carriages. Just one small snag the armrests inbetween the seats are fixed and not liftable for you to get into the seats which makes for a not very dignified entry and exit to the inside seat !

Unusual location but easy , free parking. Raised beds and garden area is lovely with tranquil water feature. Carriage is comfortable with great furnishings , although rather narrow corridor between seats as it was in the old days! Food was OK although garden giant cous cous salad was bland and uninspiring and sea trout, unfortunately , was replaced with salmon. Very surprised to be asked to vacate table after 45 minutes for lunch, but a cancellation meant we could stay longer. Service was excellent. Probably just go for coffee next time.

Our vision is to create a unique experience within Herefordshire that also supports local producers. I am disappointed that you found aspects of the menu underwhelming as we aim for excellence but we hope on your next visit you will see that we have taken strides forward to deliver on our promise. Whilst booking is not essential we do recommend it to avoid disappointment. Our booking slots allow 90 minutes for a table of four and 75 minutes for a table of two. It was clear that the staff serving us were inexperienced. The sidings having been operating for three days. There were no scones available and not much else to choose from if you did not want to eat a knife and fork breakfast. There were some sponge cakes available but only one tart. Perhaps some pastries should have been on offer. The coffee cups are small and the coffee was not really hot enough. The ambience and setting is lovely.

Dear Amanda, Thank you for taking the time to leave us an honest and frank review of The Sidings. It is clear that your experience fell well short of our own expectations and standards. For this I can only apologise. As you mention we are a new business and as such the first week was a steep learning curve for all our staff. We are always aiming for excellence and I hope you will return to see this promise fulfilled. On our menu we do offer a range of cakes such as Victoria sponge, coffee and walnut and lemon drizzle alongside cherry frangipane tarts and a selection of scones. Whilst these were not available to you on the day I can assure you that they are now. We wish to see you back again for another opportunity to create a first class experience.
