Locally sourced, seasonal food menus showcasing the best of the local area. Craft beers are all local, exclusive or unusual in some way - no run of the mill here!

Food was tasty but all 3 roast dinners were pretty cold. We didn't complain, we just ate our food. Generous portions. Lovely piece of beef. Tasted good. Staff fabulous.

From the moment we arrioved we were grreted and assisted by the staff in a professional and delightful manner. The food was excellent, a most enjoyable evening

Very warm, friendly staff who gave excellent service. Food was very good. Only slight issue was that they had run out of steak - our booking was 6.45 so that seemed early to run out of a basic ingredient. All in all a great find.

Sunday lunch(roast) experience. The setting of the pub is second to none and quintessentially English. The ales, ciders and drinks in general were amazing. Quantity of food was excellent and cooked well. Limited choice in that there was no chicken or fish. Sadly we had a table near the back door which was constantly being left open. As it was a cold day this was awful, an older member of our party needed to eat his lunch with his coat on throughout! We would go back to the pub but will be more selective in terms of time of year and seating options.

Food was nice but expensive for what it was Caesar salad (which should contain chicken) that’s what Caesar salad is and £4 to add half a chicken breast otherwise £16 for lettuce leaves bacon cubes sauce and a boiled egg,and £15 for a glass of Sauvignon blanc,I get over heads but check prices!!

Great service, great brews, great food. The sunday roast (porkbelly) was outstanding. I recommend the king prawns as a starter. Makes you never want to leave the place. We'll be back once we're back near Brighton. Don't forget to combine your vistit to shepherd & dog with a walk in the valley nearby.

Lovely place and lovely staff, they just seem so busy, need more of them. Had to ask to order drinks, ask to order food, they should be coming to us.
