Hiraeth; a term unique to Wales and Welsh culture, an intangible pull on the heart that conveys a deep sense of belonging, the desire to return to the place of one’s birth, to come home. For The Shed Restaurant and Executive Chef Jonathan Woolway, our place in the world is happily Swansea.
Composed along the expanse of Swansea Bay, flanked by the Gower Peninsula and Brecon Beacons, within striking distance of the fertile valleys, coastal plains and farmland of West Wales, the Waterfront City of Swansea sits at the beating heart of nature’s larder. Bounties of the season from land, sea and pasture are at our fingertips.
Our daily changing menus reflect a constant creative evolution, making use of local produce at the very place and moment of their seasonal prime. This begins in the kitchen and is realised at the table; Egalitarian, convivial and accessible to all. Full in heart and generous of spirit.

The service was very poor , no water bought upon arrival even though we got asked , we had to ask again. Wine was only poured once , the way the food got brought to us was poor X 2 main meals had to get sent back one fish was not cooked , other meal lamb was cold this was the taken back and came out and was very tough and big edible and the veg it was served on was still cold . Highly disappointed staff wasn’t even concerned. Would not recommend .

Food and service were excellent we were there for special occasion and had a few extras free of charge which was a lovely touch

A beautiful restaurant with amazing staff. The menu is so well thought out so difficult to choose from as everything is wonderful. Throw in the specials board and the choice is even tougher as we could have eaten so many of the choices! It was such a lovely evening and we cannot wait to come back.

Had an excellent meal with friends as a special occasion. The food was delicious using local ingredients & the service excellent. Would thoroughly recommend & hope to be back!

For our first visit it was very enjoyable. The food was good & well presented and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly We liked the fact that there was local Welsh produce on the menu.

We had an excellent meal at The Shed. None of us had eaten there before and after a great experience we will definitely go again.

I took my daughter here after dropping her off for University. The food was fantastic and the service welcoming and kind. It was a fantastic experience and will definitely return each time I’m in Swansea. I can’t recommend it enough!

A very disappointing dinner ! Firstly I was told the Head Chef was having one of his nights off, then when we ordered our starters of Cockle fritters and the (expensive) sewin, they were very small portions and not particularly special. My wife ordered the Hake for main course and it was so salty she couldn't eat it and had to send it back for the kitchen to replace it ! Whoever cooked it was not aware of the large amount of salt they must have added!! I had the Gower lamb which was very fatty and needed to be separated from the sheets of fat to find the meat! In the restaurant there were only 4 tables of 2's occupied and no atmosphere or ambience. A shame as it was the worst dinner of our 3 day trip to Swansea, and having read the hype from the newspaper reviews, the reviewers must have been overkeen! We were expecting something special with good welsh produce. It will be interesting to see if it survives!!
