Hiraeth; a term unique to Wales and Welsh culture, an intangible pull on the heart that conveys a deep sense of belonging, the desire to return to the place of one’s birth, to come home. For The Shed Restaurant and Executive Chef Jonathan Woolway, our place in the world is happily Swansea.
Composed along the expanse of Swansea Bay, flanked by the Gower Peninsula and Brecon Beacons, within striking distance of the fertile valleys, coastal plains and farmland of West Wales, the Waterfront City of Swansea sits at the beating heart of nature’s larder. Bounties of the season from land, sea and pasture are at our fingertips.
Our daily changing menus reflect a constant creative evolution, making use of local produce at the very place and moment of their seasonal prime. This begins in the kitchen and is realised at the table; Egalitarian, convivial and accessible to all. Full in heart and generous of spirit.

    Cannot fault the service. Staff are welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly without being overbearing Second time here and will definitely return. Good menu with plenty of choice, even for fussy eaters. Good wine selection and recommendations

    The jewel in the crown of the Swansea (and quite possibly, South Wales) food scene. Impeccable food showcasing fantastic ingredients, cooked to perfection and not processed to the point of being unrecognisable. A great setting with excellent service, I can't wait to have an excuse for a return visit!

    Second visit and already looking forward to returning. Service, again, impeccable. Great food, wine, ambience. Highly recommend the olive oil parfait. This is my new favourite restaurant in Swansea.

    First time eating dinner at The Shed. We had heard very good reports from friends, and they certainly didn’t exaggerate the dining experience It was my son’s 50th Birthday and the staff certainly looked after us very well indeed.

    An incredible restaurant from start to finish. Not our first time there and it still feels very special. Great cuisine, great team and great venue. Swansea has needed somewhere like this forever! A really special place, serving great food.

    The best food I’ve eaten in Swansea in a very long time. The attention to detail is exemplary. There were four of us, we ordered from the menu and the specials and nothing disappointed. For me, the Barnsley Chop was the outstanding dish, so perfectly cooked and seasoned. That was closely followed by the deep fried cod cheeks with a homemade tartare sauce - everyone tried it and loved it. The summer greens side was also a hit. For pudding, two of my companions raved over the pistachio cake, I had the cherry ice cream, and I can still taste it- wonderful. Great wine list too. This was a special night for us so we ordered the Amarone. Superb. This place knows how to store and serve a fine wine. Finally, the staff are seriously good. There’s a fine line between being respectful yet still engaging and this team knows it. Full marks from us and we will be back. Diolch x
