Hiraeth; a term unique to Wales and Welsh culture, an intangible pull on the heart that conveys a deep sense of belonging, the desire to return to the place of one’s birth, to come home. For The Shed Restaurant and Executive Chef Jonathan Woolway, our place in the world is happily Swansea.
Composed along the expanse of Swansea Bay, flanked by the Gower Peninsula and Brecon Beacons, within striking distance of the fertile valleys, coastal plains and farmland of West Wales, the Waterfront City of Swansea sits at the beating heart of nature’s larder. Bounties of the season from land, sea and pasture are at our fingertips.
Our daily changing menus reflect a constant creative evolution, making use of local produce at the very place and moment of their seasonal prime. This begins in the kitchen and is realised at the table; Egalitarian, convivial and accessible to all. Full in heart and generous of spirit.

What a great evening, the staff were very helpful, friendly & very knowledgeable with the menu selection we were very impressed. Not forgetting the food which was delicious & the cockle croquettes awesome we could have eaten a bucket of them!!!!!!!!!!! The whole experience was fantastic we will definitely return & be recommending The Shed to all our foody friends!

Really really good food, perfectly cooked and presented not to mentioned tasted great. Very good service, attentive without being over the top. Restaurant decor/environment lacked comfort and warmth. Felt to functional bit like a canteen. We will definitely return.

Really enjoyed Sunday lunch here, the salt marsh lamb was phenomenal, as were the terrine starter and the desserts. Exceptional quality food, loved the relaxed atmosphere, the friendly staff. Couldn’t fault it. If you’re looking for cheap this isn’t the place for you, but for service, ambience, and quality, it’s up there with the best in Wales, imo.

Overcharged us for our meal and refused to correct it. Ruined the experience despite enjoying the food.

Really good food, with excellent service! The ladies attending table service were friendly, extremely polite & helpful. Plenty of GF options including the most delicious desert. Salt marsh lamb starter incredible. Fabulous evening with family & friends.

The starters & appetisers were very good & thoroughly enjoyed, albeit they forgot to bring our bread. Main course, I had the pork, it was disappointing & on the cold side. I also ordered the greens, which was just cabbage, although cooked well, it was just cabbage. When paying the bill it automatically showed a tip & felt obliged to pay it. If I was to go back, I would just order starters.

Excellent food with an imaginative menu. I would love to have tried several more items on the menu - I intend to do so on another visit. Service was friendly and efficient with the two servers we dealt with demonstrating the right way to balance casual/friendly with efficiency - an all too rare success.
