Hiraeth; a term unique to Wales and Welsh culture, an intangible pull on the heart that conveys a deep sense of belonging, the desire to return to the place of one’s birth, to come home. For The Shed Restaurant and Executive Chef Jonathan Woolway, our place in the world is happily Swansea.
Composed along the expanse of Swansea Bay, flanked by the Gower Peninsula and Brecon Beacons, within striking distance of the fertile valleys, coastal plains and farmland of West Wales, the Waterfront City of Swansea sits at the beating heart of nature’s larder. Bounties of the season from land, sea and pasture are at our fingertips.
Our daily changing menus reflect a constant creative evolution, making use of local produce at the very place and moment of their seasonal prime. This begins in the kitchen and is realised at the table; Egalitarian, convivial and accessible to all. Full in heart and generous of spirit.

    We enjoyed lunch at this restaurant again. Lovely cocktails, with a few oysters; then for starters we had devilled chicken hearts and mussels in a leek and laverbread broth; mains were crispy belly pork with celeriac and skate wing with green sauce. We finished with whisky and Welsh cakes - which were freshly baked. Very attentive and friendly staff. Fresh, local produce as always. Disappointed with the skate, which was overcooked- but everything else was perfect. Looking forward to our next visit.

    Food was ok but overpriced. E.g £4.50 for a single dessert spoon size scoop of ice cream. Hair was found in food, dish was replaced quickly but replacement was not same quality, had to ask once bill came for the dish to be removed from the bill. Lentils soggy, potatoes lacked any flavour and desserts not as advertised. Staff were good, friendly and helpful but food not up to the quality expected with the price.

    We visited as "out of towners" after our sons graduation and wanted somewhere memorable to eat and celebrate. The welcome was great and we were well looked after with attentive and knowledgeable staff, Our food was excellent and we enjoyed tasting the welsh themed menu. My wife especially enjoyed her dish and has tried to recreate it at home. Overall it was a lovely meal with good food and wine, a nice table with a view of the water and a good crowd in to make a happy and contented atmosphere. I would definitely come back again.

    Wee been to the Shed a number of times since it opened. It’s always offered food and drink to the same high standard and the menu varies regularly. Service always top class

    Cannot fault the service. Staff are welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly without being overbearing Second time here and will definitely return. Good menu with plenty of choice, even for fussy eaters. Good wine selection and recommendations

    The jewel in the crown of the Swansea (and quite possibly, South Wales) food scene. Impeccable food showcasing fantastic ingredients, cooked to perfection and not processed to the point of being unrecognisable. A great setting with excellent service, I can't wait to have an excuse for a return visit!

    Second visit and already looking forward to returning. Service, again, impeccable. Great food, wine, ambience. Highly recommend the olive oil parfait. This is my new favourite restaurant in Swansea.
