The Salt Line, the popular DC homage to New England’s iconic fish and oyster houses, brings a third location to Bethesda Row. New England meets the Chesapeake at this beauty of a restaurant with lots of comfy booth seating and an inviting u shaped bar and lounge area. Menu features all the classics and raw bar guests have come to love from the original The Salt Line plus some delicious new surprises from award winning The Salt Line Chef Kyle Bailey and Bethesda Executive Chef Eric McKamey.

    Best selection for seafood that I've seen in ages! Everything was delicious, fried clams served with bellies- as they should be, but rarely are! Fun bar, great vibe. Will definitely be going back.

    The location is prime. The decor is pretty and light. Our server was outstanding. The food was a little too salty. Oysters were delicious. The cod and rockfish were just ok. The chocolate cake dessert is something on the menu that I would definitely go back for!

    Overall, the experience was a good one, but . . . There were a few missteps, such as the hot nashville soft shell crab, which wasn't really "hot" and the bread the crab sat on could have been mistaken for a very hard crouton; inedible really. The lobster rolls are a must, but the fries on the side were limp, not crispy. The strawberry-rhubarb pie was not a pie, but really a cream custard with very little strawberry-rhubarb on top. However, the raw bar shined as usual, and my VA cobia dish was excellent. For the pricing of this restaurant, you expect the kitchen to be humming. Finally, my initial wine pour (wine by the glass) was comically small, not nearly the 6 ounces you get from other high end restaurants. You are charged for 6 and at most get 3. Will go again, but only so many chances for restaurant in this range.

    Took my wife and kiddos there for her birthday. Service was outstanding, food was delicious, atmosphere was lovely. I stopped fretting about the price as soon as I took a bite.

    I like the food but the menu is very limited, and appetizers portions are very small ( not good for sharing )so overall i would say overpriced for what you get

    It was our anniversary so in Bethesda this restaurant is really good to celebrate 🥳. The appetizer was delicious and also de main course. Everything was perfect. I appreciate Jack our server to his recommendations.

    Our server was excellent. She was very knowledgeable in which oysters to recommend. The seating for two wasn’t to our liking. It felt cramped and we don’t love sitting right next to people while trying to have an intimate dinner. Wish when booked we could specify where we would like to sit. Food was delicious! Very fresh and flavorful. Overall look was beautiful and clean.

Regarding the seating sorry that seating wasn't the best for you- please always do feel free to ask for a seat change if your initial seating is not to your liking for whatever reason and we definitely encourage guests to make any seating preference notes when booking your reservation as it makes it easier for us to meet your expectations so please do feel free to do so in the future (although we have already added to your notes for future visits that you prefer more secluded/private dining areas) Hope to see you again soon!
