The Salt Line, the popular DC homage to New England’s iconic fish and oyster houses, brings a second location to Arlington’s burgeoning Ballston neighborhood. Just one year in, The Salt Line has already established itself as one of the top dining spots in Northern Virginia. Executive Chef Matt Singer is leading the kitchen team in partnership with award winning Long Shot Hospitality Chef/Partner Kyle Bailey. The Salt Line is where "New England meets the Chesapeake" so guests can expect the same New England classics and renowned raw bar found at the original location, along with lots of new chef driven fish and seafood entrees, house-made pastas, exciting selections of crudos, and of course the best lobster rolls around.

In addition to dining, the welcoming year round outdoor bar (tented in the winter) has also become a favorite neighborhood gathering spot and is the perfect place to enjoy The Salt Line's signature beverage program and grab what many say is the best burger in town.

    I brunched with family on the patio and it was absolutely delightful. The setting of course was beautiful, the food - especially the oysters! - was all delicious, the staff was friendly and professional. Just a top drawer experience. Thank you!

    Another night at Salt Line, another fantastic experience. This restaurant has become a true weekly staple for me and I’ve never once been disappointed. The oysters were FIRE and the cocktail sauce and mignonette is absolute certified GASOLINE, in the best way. The New England Smash doesn’t miss. Nothing else to say there. Our serve, John, was the MAN and even shot me a message via OpenTable after we ate that I had left my sunglasses. Talk about SERVICE.

    Great spot for a bite on Saturday night. Outdoor space is great and open but covered in case of rain. A time was had!

    Nice meal. we started with the hot pimento dip. Entrees include the Portuguese stew and scallops. both delish. The bok choy didn't work, because it was too tough to cut with dull regular knives. But flavors were nice. Would have liked to see more dessert options. Cocktails were fine, but not exceptional. all in all, a very nice meal.

    We were disappointed with the server, Jackie C. She wasn't the friendliest and it was quite apparent that she did not know the menu. First, she stated that fish could not be included on the Waterman's Platter because the restaurant was short.... disappointing, that was what attracted us to the restaurant. Then we asked for fried oysters on the side, she stated we could not order oysters on the side. We asked that she go and check with management for confirmation, as we were sure there would be no problem with this. She came back and stated 'no problem'. We did not enjoy our encounter with Jackie. She was unemotional, stone-faced, and maybe just completely inexperienced in the job. She really needs additional training to make customers feel a bit more welcomed and also knowing what can and cannot be ordered.

    Billy our waiter was fabulous! Helpful in answering our menu questions, engaging and fun and light conversation. Excellent service We NEVER have a bad meal at The Salt Line which is why we decided to bring our out of town visitors here to dine for our special family celebration.

    It was our first time at the Salt Line and we definitely will be returning! Everything was delicious— lobster roll, scallops, crab claws, drinks. Our server, Billy, was phenomenal and provided outstanding service. Highly recommend this spot.
