Solanche, Richard and the rest of The Royal Oak team are extremely proud to offer Michelin starred dining in rural Warwickshire, on the edge of the Cotswolds.

Our food offering is what we like to call ‘proper country food’- wild meats and foraged ingredients from our home area. Our aim is simple: we want to tell the story of our community, the producers themselves and how we’ve utilised their ingredients.

Sometimes a dish will be on the menu for a six week period, fully celebrating the early or late season. Conversely a dish may be fleeting - a week, a service or even just for a single table of regulars - a micro-seasonal snapshot, which gets us thinking and talking with our local community of producers about next years planting or hunting, allowing us to dream about revisiting an idea and developing it further the following year.

WOW…. Wonderful food, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Celebrated my wife’s birthday and found the a little gem in the Warwickshire countryside. The food is wonderful and the staff are very attentive, making us feel very welcome and explaining what every dish was, ingredients and where they came from. Very relaxed atmosphere but the presentation and taste of the food is something to be admired. There was a birthday card for my wife on the table signed by the staff, lovely touch and very well received thank you.

The menu was inspired - delicious & unusual flavour combinations- beautifully executed. The only argument being which course was the best! This was our first visit & staff were friendly & welcoming. The wine menu is a single side of A4 - it would have been nice to see a Viognier among the whites & a Pinot Noir among the wines available by the glass. The ambiance is lovely - small, select & easy to converse - a real treat for a special night out.

A beautiful building in a charming location, about 20 minutes car journey outside Stratford, inhabited by people who are passionate about producing art on a plate. The staff are efficient, knowledgable and friendly, and although Michelin Star standard in every sense of the word, there is no snobbery or stuffiness to be seen. The ‘go-to’ place in the area for a special occasion!

It was my fault for not realising that there was a set menu. They weren’t very accommodating when it came to changing the 5 course meal to a 4 course meal to get some fish instead of meat. I have seen that given 48 hours notice I could have changed this so again I take the blame. Maybe somewhere more obvious it could say it’s a set menu. Too much meat for me but that’s my issue. Maybe OpenTable could make that more obvious. A Michelin star is fabulous and well done to the restaurant.

Fantastic meal. Stunning consommé just to freshen the palate followed by combinations that were balanced, delicate, and flavourful. Love the venison combo, turbot and lobster roll, and mini “Sunday roast”.

Simply and directly, one of the best meals we’ve ever experienced. The staff is as amazing as the food, and their passion and creativity deserves Michelin 3 stars! We will cross the Atlantic to dine here again! Don’t miss.
