Solanche, Richard and the rest of The Royal Oak team are extremely proud to offer Michelin starred dining in rural Warwickshire, on the edge of the Cotswolds.

Our food offering is what we like to call ‘proper country food’- wild meats and foraged ingredients from our home area. Our aim is simple: we want to tell the story of our community, the producers themselves and how we’ve utilised their ingredients.

Sometimes a dish will be on the menu for a six week period, fully celebrating the early or late season. Conversely a dish may be fleeting - a week, a service or even just for a single table of regulars - a micro-seasonal snapshot, which gets us thinking and talking with our local community of producers about next years planting or hunting, allowing us to dream about revisiting an idea and developing it further the following year.

From the moment we entered The Royal Oak and were greeted by its co-owner, we knew we would have a wonderful evening. After a lovely conversation with her over drinks, we had a succession of extraordinary tastes, from a venison consommé “snack” to a baby pine cone “pre-dessert.” In between the flavors were exciting, surprising, and diverse: beef tongue underlay a feathery courgette dish; quail was complemented by grilled apricots. We were dazzled by each succeeding dish. It was a magical evening that we will remember for a very long time.

We cycled 40 miles from Oxford across the Cotswolds to eat at The Royal Oak - however you get there, it will reward your effort. Not only was every course consistently delicious, it was original, inventive, imaginative cooking without ever being gimmicky, flavors never there without good reason to be there. Just brilliant cooking, making use of seasonal, local ingredients: we had spent the day cycling past miles of Meadowsweet growing along the little tracks and fields and then we got to eat it in ice-cream. Service was perfect - we loved meeting the young chefs as they proudly brought out their dishes for us from the kitchen. Shout out to the young man responsible for the "duck snack"! We will definitely be back and highly recommend. Oxford cyclists, take note!

Another wonderful meal, beautifully presented and served. This must be one of the best restaurants in the country.

Five courses was served with attention to detail. For our dinner we added the pairing of wines to the different dishes. Amazing atmosphere

Food drink and service were excellent. Staff are very friendly and helpful. It was great to interact with the chefs and hear about the dishes. Great place for celebrating special occasions or just have an excellent meal out.

We were met by the delightful Solange. & were escorted to our table by Tom. The interior design is cool, clean & sympathetic. Every course was delicious & very well presented at the table by Richard & his team of Sous Chefs. The wine list was short & well selected. We all had a lovely experience & will definitely be back with any other friends interested in good food, service & a relaxed atmosphere

The food is always delicious but on this occasion they out did themselves! Inventive, full of flavour and in just the right portion sizes - a real treat. With the sun shining in the atmosphere is warm and inviting, matched by the friendly service. Cannot recommend highly enough.
