Charming little hotel with lots of history. Even on a cool and rain night, we sat outside on the patio and with the large heaters, it was very comfortable. Great food, great service and great ambiance. A place not to miss on your journey in Prince Edward County.

Really disappointed with the Royal on Fri Oct 4th. We have been here now 3 times and last night we were not impressed and it was not up to its usual standard (hence why we returned for a 3rd time for a special occasion). We were celebrating my mother’s retirement after 52 years which was noted in my booking and it wasn’t acknowledged. My wine was brought out 15 minutes prior to the other 2 drinks for my husband and mother. They were out of the pasta we all were excited to try (The Cappelletti). I had to ask a random server for another glass of wine as ours didn’t check up on us and the pizza ordered was completely soggy. We weren’t checked in on/ asked how things were and there was an evident dispute in the kitchen. We love coming to the Royal, but our third visit was disheartening. Also when celebrating a special occasion and being repeat guests we had hoped to have a better seat versus the table by the kitchen where servers hung out to gather and chat and is the busiest in terms of activity.

My family really enjoyed their dining experience here. The staff are beyond friendly & welcoming and the food is fresh, locally grown and delicious. The special for our evening was a ribeye that my father absolutely loved. The staff even surprised my mother with a decadent slice of chocolate cake as it was her birthday. Such a great place to bring your loved ones … will be back soon!

Everything was outstanding from the service, to the food, to the ambiance and decor. The server was amazing, very professional, folded the napkins of the people who had gotten up to take a smoke, and offered to keep his food under a hot plate until they returned. The decor was so so amazing, felt very high end. We sat outside and it was lovely. Maybe just need something to keep away the mosquitoes a bit. But overall highly recommend!

We again had a wonderful lunch on the terrace. Such a pleasure to sit outside on a wonderful warm fall day. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. And your music is always so enjoyable. We are so relaxed we never want to leave. We will definitely be back soon to enjoy another lunch or dinner. Thank you. B+H

A wonderful evening. great service, lovely and vibrant atmosphere, delicious and well presented food. Items, notably drinks, are pricey but a great evening.

We have been to the Royal on many occasions since it opened. We have always enjoyed the ambience,decor, attentive service and delicious food. Last night was a BIG disappointment. The dining room was packed and understaffed. The timing of service was erratic and delayed. All of this could have been tolerated but the food was terrible! The gnocchi was overcooked into a mashed potato-like mush and the pesto sauce was soupy and almost tasteless. Two of us did not finish the gnocchi. The French fries on the steak frites plate were dry, almost cold and exhausted The steak was OK. Very disappointing as The Royal has been one of our favorite places to dine in Picton. Our server did her best under the circumstances With the high price of the dinners, one expects better quality than this.

Brunch at The Royal did not disappoint. The food was fantastic, staff attentive and the decor was gorgeous. Well done! We highly recommend and will definitely be back.
