The Roebuck Inn is an historic coaching inn with rooms, in the heart of the Sussex countryside where the South Downs meet the woodlands of the Sussex Weald.
We have an extensive range of beers with an emphasis on Sussex Brewers, ably supported by the best small brewers from further afield, and a daily changing menu incorporating wonderful local ingredients, many supplied by our neighbours in the village.

The staff were very freindly and welcoming but the pub itself looks old and tired and the food was very under cooked. We had the roast dinners plenty of food on plate just not cooked properly and I am myself a chef so was a bit disappointed. Husband had to wait about 45 mins for the chicken burger which was very plain and bland. Would go again for drinks but not food

We first found this restaurant after going to Drusillas. We drove there from an hour away again today just to eat there as the food is so good! Freshly made and tastes incredible. Very happy and will make the 1 hour drive again just to eat there again.

we all ordered the grilled/roasted plaice. we asked for it to be taken off the bone but the chef was apparently too busy to do that. the fish arrived with the heads on (not pleasant). There was a maximum of 3 mouthfuls of fish, the rest was bones, skin and something that was gelatinous. we really like the chef but would respectfully ask that grilled fish is de-boned before serving and that the vegetables are cooked a little more (too al dente for us) thank you

We went on Sunday and all had a Sunday lunch. I had been before on Mother’s Day and was unimpressed as the roast potatoes were burnt, but decided to give it another chance when it was less busy. The portions were ample and the veg was all fresh. Both the posts loin and sirloin of beef meats were nice. However, again the potatoes were burnt, which anyone would agree is the best but of a roast. The gravy was not great either. All in all it was ok, but at the more expensive end of the market I expected more.

All 4 of us had a Roost Dinner and all agreed it was lovely. The Roost Dinners were large and the staff very helpful with requests

It was a really fun night for old school friends, we turned up to the pub to discover it was a Mexican night and it was really jolly. We for the most part stuck to their traditional menu and all the meals were delicious. The menu that was put together for the evening, wasn’t what was expected, but I’m told by those who had it, it was ok. Would definitely return

We were greeted nicely felt we were welcome and were the only people left in the pub at the end of the evening we asked if they wanted us to leave and were made to feel welcome until such times as we wanted to leave. Overall a most pleasant experience we will be back probably for the classic car meet on a Thursday. Many thanks

A couple of us had the halibut from the specials menu. Delicious. Others had fish and chips which they all really enjoyed too. Great service too.

6 of us went for lunch on Wednesday 2 had steaks, 2 had burgers 1 had Gammon and i had the Chicken supreme, all remarked food was very good and my chicken was moist and the butter bean cassoulet was full of flavour, would fully recommend the dish. The service was good and helpful, but it was quiet a wait for the food to arrive.
