This unique Mother’s Day ‘all you can eat’ afternoon tea returns on 30th March hosted in our Grand Ballroom. Our luxurious afternoon tea buffet includes unlimited sandwiches, scones and cakes, as well as a choice of tea and coffees, and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. I pre-ordered a vegetarian afternoon tea. When we were seated, I was advised to let the server know which sandwich to exchange in place of the meat sandwich. The server didn’t give me the chance to do this, the menu was quickly taken from me and I was told the chef would make the substitution. I asked a question about the white tea and was told, I’ll find out for you but instead I was just brought the white tea which I hadn’t even ordered, only enquired about. Once the sandwiches were brought by another server, they quickly pointed out what all the sandwiches and cakes were. It was so fast and since we didn’t have time to read the menu properly in the first place, I hadn’t realised that one of the sandwiches was salmon, the description on the menu sounded like it was beetroot. I am a pescatarian but if you order a vegetarian afternoon tea, I wouldn’t expect there to be fish included. Also the meat sandwich had been replaced by a bog standard cheese finger sandwich, no chutney or garnish, very disappointing. Overall not a really bad experience but also not up to the same standards of other afternoon teas at the same price.

We received a voucher as a Christmas gift and got a 3 course Sunday lunch with a glass of wine. Such good value, beautiful food and chilled atmosphere.

This is our 2nd visit to the Lowri and won’t be our last! We had the Sunday lunch menu which was just perfect. Starters of smoked salmon and Caesar salad were so good. Then 3 of us had the roast beef, which, in our opinion, was exceptional! One of our party asked for her beef to be well done (very well done)! And this was done to perfection. The other guest had the cod which was equally delicious. Deserts were 3 sticky toffee puddings and 1 cheesecake, not a crumb was left! Our server was only 3 week into her post and was so engaging, professional and helpful- a credit to the team. Definitely recommend the Lowri Sunday lunch and will most certainly be going back.
