    We had a lovely anniversary dinner at The River House. I’m an accomplished cook and cocktail aficionado, so details matter to me. That said, I have a high bar. 4 starts for me is probably 5 for most people. The valet was prompt and super friendly. We were immediately greeted by the hostess and seated at a lovely booth against the wall with enough room to sit side by side. The service quite good initially but dropped off as other tables were seated. We ordered a bottle of wine, Syrah, with dinner and the waiter never returned to refill our glasses. Additionally, the wine glasses were for white wine, kinda foggy and linty. I had to polish them before the bottle was delivered. We started with the Fat-Washed Old Fashioned which were pretty sweet and nothing special, served on cubed ice rather than a large cube and the bitters were pooled at the bottom and not really mixed in. My husband had oysters as an appetizer, which he loved. We shared the Tuna Tartare, which was outstanding. The fish was very fresh and the serving size generous. For entrees, I had the “Hemingway”; a Filet with a cognac cream sauce and my husband had the Dry Aged Ribeye. My entree was cooked perfectly rare, although I was underwhelmed by the sauce. It was over salted and lacked balance. Pretty boring. I regretted my choice. On the other hand, my husband’s Ribeye was incredible. Cooked to perfection and had that big beefy flavor that dry aging gets you. Tender, flavorful, melt in your mouth. Definitely recommend! We also had the creamed spinach which was fine. Nothing special and a bit grainy. Like I said, I’m not a professional but an accomplished home cook, so I have a high bar.

    Good location. Very good service. Reasonable prices. Certainly one of the better Nashville steakhouses. A definite recommendation.

    First time visit. Our server was amazing!! So helpful…always there when we needed anything! The food was great! Entree’s are huge!! The Parmesan crusted halibut and crab cakes were both excellent! Highly recommend the River House!

    Fish had no flavor. Just seemed to be a lump of fish put together. Not sure if really fresh.

    I had the filet and wedge salad. The filet was excellent. The filet was tender and cooked perfectly. I have had the wedge salad before but this time the lettuce was iceberg. Still all the great additions to the salad but last time I had butter lettuce. Please bring back the butter lettuce. In all, still a good meal and the location. It was a block away from symphony and Pinnacle parking. Nice choice for a laid back or formal evening. Especially, if you have a downtown event to attend.

    FOOD ALLERGIES BEWARE!!! Advised staff prior to ordering of issues. Waitress went to kitchen to verify prior to us placing order. We discussed preparation options when placing order. Appetizers and entrees still came out incorrect. When we mentioned it to the waitress, she removed the allergen from the plate which left a plain piece of fish on a plate. Then spoke with "manager" who was walking by. Explained the situation and he said thank you and left. Never an "I'm sorry", "We will do better next time," or return to the table from him. Don't get me wrong, the fish was good, but $48 for a plain piece of fish is ridiculous.

    We meant to check this place out ever since it opened and just now got around to it. I'm sad we waited this long! It was exactly what I like, excellent steak that was $$ instead of $$$$ and sides that make it hard to choose. The price on this meal was really reasonable for the level of service and the quality of food we received. The filet was better than some of the $200 steaks I've had at other places. Will definitely be back.
