   Food was lovely. We went for afternoon tea which was really nice but found it impossible to catch someone’s eye to ask for the jam and cream for our scones which meant that although they were served lovely and warm. They were cold by the time we gave up on trying to get staff to come to us and went to them. It was promptly delivered with an apology. Then after being told twice that we could try all the different teas and coffees again impossible to order more without going up to a member of staff. However tea wasn’t promptly served this time and had to ask twice. One error is acceptable but not having to chase staff. Had booked an overnight stay for our anniversary later in the year as a special treat but will be spending my hard earned money else where now due to such poor service.

   We visited York on our tour and wanted a true English Afternoon Tea, we were delighted with the experience we had. The service was amazing, explained our experience so we could enjoy every minute. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was spot on. It met every expectation we had.

   Every member of staff we had contact with were extremely courteous and helpful nothing was too much trouble ( even faced with an Allergy + wheelchair ) which made our special occasions all the more special . The Afternoon Tea was just exquisite . An experience that will stay a treasured memory . Thank you to you all ❤️

   Food was excellent and the service was the same. Attentive staff without being overly so. We had two of the mocktails and they were lovely. The soup and salmon were excellent and well portioned. Originally we were just going to have a starter and main but it was so delicious we also had a dessert. Again excellent quality and good portion sizes.

   Honestly the food was kind of inoffensive but ultimately just tasteless. There’s an open kitchen but I don’t know what they’re doing in there. Service was lovely- 100% recommend for a drink but the food just didn’t do anything or have any flavor. Sorry guys.

   Sadly we were very disappointed with our meal at The Rise Restaurant. There was not a lot of choice on the menu, meagre portions, poor quality ingredients and some of the food we had was cold. With hindsight we should have complained on the night but because we were there for a special birthday for my husband ,I didn’t want to spoil the night because the meal already had. We were upset and quite shocked at how bad it was . Because we booked in good faith. On a positive note the staff were attentive.
