I cannot recommend The Rise enough. This was my chosen venue for my birthday treat from my son. To coin a phrase: “ Our meal tonight was spectacular!” I’m my words: “perfection!” The beef wellington was mouthwatering and the suggested paired wine made it all the more perfect! The service was first class and our waiter was both attentive and professional, Thank you TK all at The Rise. 🍷

Attentive service and the starters and mains were delicious, however there was very little choice for vegetarians. Dessert was poor in terms of choice. I had a tiramisu which was not prepared properly. A 12.5 per cent service charge was slapped on the bill automatically which I do t agree with. The waiter happily took it off but you have to ask!

It was my birthday. We were made to feel very welcome. Advice about the menu was good. The options were excellent. Food quality high. Service first class. We followed the wine pairings advice. And the value for money was excellent. I can definitely recommend the Rise at the Grand in York

Our afternoon Tea was excellent. I have over my many years eaten in various places for afternoon tea but I must confess at the GRAND HOTEL, York, is most definately the best. My compliments to the chefs who prepare the food (sandwiches, scones and cakes). You can taste every flavour. Well done, you most definitely get my vote 100% and excellent value for money.

Excellent service by all the staff who made the dining experience not only a relaxed delight but also helped by the suggestions regarding our food and drink choices. First time at the Rise and not disappointed. Not as cozy as expected but ambience was pleasant and able to easy talk. Would be nice to have more private dinning experience than open plan. Wonderful evening and the staff in particular our table server was attentive. Food was as expected cooked beautifully with a variety of flavour’s. Didn’t manage a dessert due to main course being sufficient. Recommend.
