                                                                                            From the moment you step on the threshold your needs are met. Being a cycling city I arrive by bike. The gentlemen were on hand to help me secure my bike outside the hotel. We were then greeted at the Rise and shown to our table and introduced to our server for the afternoon. Everything was clearly explained. The unlimited coffee/ tea options was well received by all 4 of the guests. We were able to try new things, fresh cups and plates provided throughout the afternoon. The food was lovingly prepared and so tasty without being over powering. The attention to detail and presentation was impeccable. Boxes and bags were provided for the delicacies we could not manage to eat, for us to enjoy at home later.

                                                                                            Had ribeye steak and asked for medium rare but was served more rare. Also as a very upmarket restaurant I expected this to totally blow my tate buds away considering when I read the website it said a Michelin star chef worked in the restaurant,however,I was massively disappointed with a bland box standard tasting rare steak that was not worth the money I paid. My partner had the shepherd ls pie and again exactly the same very box standard. We ended up eating out for the rest of our stay.

                                                                                            There is a welcoming feeling from the moment you arrive. We had a wonderful food experience my husband had the lobster and I had shepherd's pie, we also had two lovely sweets Honey and Milk and Black Forest Gateaux which is nothing like the old fashioned sweet. The Gateaux is so different from the norm and is served with a Basil sorbet which was out of this world. Well done to the chefs. If in York you must visit this restaurant.

                                                                                            Lovely setting with excellent staff and attention to detail. The food was delicious and we were left to chat and enjoy our drinks long after we’d finished eating. Fabulous! Thoroughly recommend Rise!!!

                                                                                            Booked through an offer but even at full price, it was value for money, we have two dietary requirements and they were all met. The staff were exceptional, five start survive without being stuffy, nothing was too much but they were friendly and interested. Fitted in an extra person with an hour's notice. The food was outstanding, elegant and tasty. I can't find a single fault, best afternoon tea in York

                                                                                            I've had lots of afternoon teas in York, including the legendary Betty's, but I was bowled over by The Rise. Max and Alyssa took wonderful care of us, the food was beautifully created, thought out and presented, and we enjoyed every moment.
