Committed to serving the best seasonal and ethically sourced ingredients, Afternoon Tea and Dinner see British favourites offered with a Yorkshire twist from our expert chefs. Diners can also expect local beers and ales, a hand-selected wine offering, and signature cocktails.

Please note that for Afternoon Tea bookings, dietary requests (e.g. vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, children's Afternoon Tea, etc.) must be pre-ordered at the time of booking. It was my birthday. We were made to feel very welcome. Advice about the menu was good. The options were excellent. Food quality high. Service first class. We followed the wine pairings advice. And the value for money was excellent. I can definitely recommend the Rise at the Grand in York

Our afternoon Tea was excellent. I have over my many years eaten in various places for afternoon tea but I must confess at the GRAND HOTEL, York, is most definately the best. My compliments to the chefs who prepare the food (sandwiches, scones and cakes). You can taste every flavour. Well done, you most definitely get my vote 100% and excellent value for money.

Excellent service by all the staff who made the dining experience not only a relaxed delight but also helped by the suggestions regarding our food and drink choices. The food and presentation was of the highest quality. A lovely atmosphere in the rise restaurant completed the fantastic do I g experience. We will definitely be back.

First time at the Rise and not disappointed. Not as cozy as expected but ambience was pleasant and able to easy talk. Would be nice to have more private dinning experience than open plan. Wonderful evening and the staff in particular our table server was attentive. Food was as expected cooked beautifully with a variety of flavour’s. Didn’t manage a dessert due to main course being sufficient. Recommend.

The staff were incredibly attentive and it was lovely that they had gone to the effort of writing out a birthday card for my mum. The food was nice I wouldn’t say spectacular it looked amazing but some of the pieces were quite bland in taste. We had the vegan afternoon tea and although we are vegetarians we had to let the staff know that on one of the deserts contained honey and bee pollen which vegans would not eat.
