Located within The Draftsmen boutique hotel, The Ridley combines convenience and accessibility with an unparalleled dining experience. As one of Charlottesville’s Black-owned restaurants, the concept pays homage to Dr. Walter N. Ridley, the first Black student to graduate from The University of Virginia and receive a graduate degree from any major, historically white public university in the South.

The appetizer (deviled eggs) was delish. The main course of shrimp and grits was excellent and very generously apportioned. However, the dessert completely missed. We had a peach and ginger crème brûlée. It was lukewarm and watery. Totally lacking any custard texture.

I was very disappointed as this was my birthday dinner and was looking forward to eating here and drive an hour to get there. The food was not worth the almost $100 check we paid for 2 people. We had fried green tomatoes for our appetizer and I was shocked that they were served to us cold. Not sure if that was because they were placed on top of a cold corn salad and that made them cold. The only good part of the cajun pasta I had was the pieces of chicken in it. The sauce had no flavor and the penny pasta was so over cooked it would fall apart when I tried to put it on the silverware and was gummy. It was however well decorated and looked like a high-end restaurant.

The food was good but the service was lacking. I had to ask another server for water when my waitress hadn’t checked on me for some time.

Sat outside on a lovely morning for brunch. Chicken & Waffles were excellent, Omelette above average. Service uneven, but friendly.

The food was great and our server, Shelly, was super attentive. We had a delicious Father’s Day brunch and can’t wait to go back!

Easy access from I64, valet parking. Had a table outside which was perfect for daughters 25th birthday day. Our server Lucas was fantastic. Knowledgeable and friendly. Apps and meal were great. Lucas surprised Savannah with special dessert/candle and helped sing happy birthday. Very nice evening, most likely return

Besides the absolutely annoying Karen of a customer sitting in the next table over, the experience was phenomenal! Jess, the server, was excellent! She makes a mean mimosa! The food was so good! The Eggs Benedict is a must try! Right in the heart of Charlottesville, this restaurant has everything you could need!

Shelley, our server, went above & beyond. The fried chicken was my husband’s choice…he liked it, but said almost everything on the plate was sweet. I had a Cobb salad w/grilled shrimp & it was delicious!

We came here last night for my birthday dinner. Everything was wonderful. Service was great from Angela and the sous chef, Sandra or Simora, who was helping out. The food was great. We had the fried chicken and pasta with the grilled skillet cornbread to start. Everything was delicious. I was given a free dessert for my birthday. I would definitely recommend.
