Located within The Draftsmen boutique hotel, The Ridley combines convenience and accessibility with an unparalleled dining experience. As one of Charlottesville’s Black-owned restaurants, the concept pays homage to Dr. Walter N. Ridley, the first Black student to graduate from The University of Virginia and receive a graduate degree from any major, historically white public university in the South.

I had to wait 35 minutes for deviled eggs and that is an appetizer. I didn’t feel like waiting on any other food so I left

The Ridley is a very nice establishment. Beautiful decor and nice ambience. We received excellent service from our server, Ray, who was very affable and solicitous. We will return!

Our Server Lucas was terrific, and truly a unique attribute of the Ridley. Food, beverages and service were terrific at our informal wedding gathering.

Had brunch here. Food was great. Had eggs Benedict & potatoes with peppers & onions. Tasted amazing! Mimosa was disappointing. Either too much juice or the champagne was flat. Ordered another cocktail & it was great!

Great meal! I would recommend the mac and cheese as an appetizer, it was delicious! The Shrimp and Grits and the Chicken and Waffles are great. Would recommend for a good dinner in the area!

Bar type atmosphere with elevated southern cuisine. Overall good and would eat here again. We shared the fried chick- sadly they subbed mashed potatoes for sweet potato mash, but otherwise, it was quite tasty.

We ordered a golden beet salad and it only had three paper thin Slices of beet in the entire salad. My wife and I both ordered eggs Benedict and all four poached eggs were completely overcooked with a rockhard yoke. Disappointed

Tasty food for quality and value. Server was excellent. Your 4 rather than 5 stars is due to cleanliness, or lack thereof. The tables were not clean and there was food underneath on the floor. You must control this more efficiently between patrons to keep your ant problem under control. Ants were crawling all over and guess what? Your ant problem outside is now inside with an open partition.
