Welcome to The Rex Seaside Steakhouse.

A neighborhood steakhouse using seasonal and quality ingredients to bring flavor and hospitality to Redondo Beach. Join us in our dining room every night or our Drift Cocktail Lounge on Friday and Saturdays for a night to remember.

Intentionally sourced with an eye for quality, we offer USDA Prime, Miyazaki A5 Japanese Wagyu, and American Wagyu. All are steaks are cooked to perfection over our white oak fire.

Family-owned and operated, we strive to off a one-of-a-kind luxury experience with all the charm of a neighborhood restaurant.

We invite you to join us for a thrilling night of Celaya Tequila paired with a 4-course creation from Chef Walter. The storied history of Celaya Tequila begins, on the porch of a rural Sonora ranch in the late 1800's. Much has changed since the first Celaya made tequila, but their dedication to the craft remains the same. Creating small-batch tequila with sublime, layered flavor from the highland and lowland regions of Mexico. Experience will be $150++; If your cancellation is within 48 hours of event date, the charge will be a $25 per person. Everything was great until the power went out & the staff couldn’t get the elevator working bc the power didn’t come back on. The staff was great escorting my wheelchair bound friend down the stairs. We were able to eat our food but missed out on the fabulous dessert menu.

During a recent work trip to Los Angeles, I decided to catch up with a friend for dinner at a charming restaurant in Redondo Beach. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt inviting, and both the hostess and server greeted us with warm smiles, setting a pleasant tone for the evening. However, as we reviewed the menu, we were taken aback by the prices, particularly the $180 porterhouse steak we decided to split. Having dined at numerous fine steakhouses across the globe—from New York to Paris to Sarasota—I couldn't help but feel that the price was rather exorbitant for what we received. While the steak was undeniably delicious and cooked to perfection, it felt more like an indulgence than a fair value. To complement our meal, we ordered two sides, as the porterhouse only came with a single, modest side of our choice. Although both sides were tasty, I couldn’t shake the feeling that we could have found a similar dining experience elsewhere at a more reasonable price point. Despite the high costs, I must commend the quality of the food and the attentive service. We left a 20% tip for our server, who truly deserved it, but I left feeling that our dining experience, while memorable, did not warrant a return visit. In summary, if you're seeking a special occasion steak dinner and are willing to splurge, this restaurant may be worth considering. However, for those who value both quality and reasonable prices, there are likely better options available.

I made reservations via Open Table— it allowed me to pick where to dine. I picked the second floor patio so we can see the view and dine. It was a HUGE bummer that we had to be seated inside in the far back— they didn’t even put us in the outdoor patio on the first floor. We were celebrating a work transfer for my husband and I really wanted to have a nice view and ambiance. Instead we had a couple louder groups within earshot. I really hoped the food made up for it. Luckily it did, hence the high marks. We ordered the octopus and kale salad as appetizers. Both were great. We loved how the octopus was nicely grilled. The salad portion was large and they brought it to us split. I ordered the Napa cab and the NY strip steak. My husband ordered the rib eye with a bourbon. I would go back and order the rib eye. NY strip was good but his was better. We ended it with a tiramisu. Very delicious. They did give us a shot of rhubarb something as a palate cleanser. It was very strong. Our server was amazing. She wasn’t very over bearing in checking in on us but made sure everything was good. Would return for a special occasion. Maybe we will be lucky enough to sit on the second floor.

Had a perfect birthday celebration dinner for my friend, sat on the quiet patio. Service by Kyle with assist and oversight by manager Connor helped make the experience great. The butter cake is an absolute must!

Kyle recognized us from our visits before and took excellent care of us. It was my birthday and was given a card signed the staff, complementary champagne and desert with a candle! Sad they did not have the oysters because their presentation and taste was amazing! The crudo was delicious in its place. They split the Wedge salad for us a literally made two salad. Tomahawk ribeye was perfect and mini-potatoes and carrots on the side. Great wine recommendation from Conor. A wonderful experience.

I recently visited REX with high hopes, but unfortunately, my experience fell far short of expectations. The issues started with the food itself, which was disappointing in both taste and quality. The steak, which should be the highlight of any visit to a steakhouse, was overcooked and lacked the flavor one would expect at this price point.Similarly unimpressive, leaving much to be desired in terms of seasoning and presentation. Service was another letdown. Our waiter was hardly around, making it difficult to request refills or address any concerns we had. This inattentiveness really impacted our dining experience, as we felt neglected and had to wait far too long for basic requests. Adding to the frustration was the loud and uncomfortable ambiance. The seating arrangement is far too compact, making the restaurant feel cramped and noisy. Conversations from nearby tables bled into our own, making it hard to enjoy any sense of intimacy or relaxation. Overall, REX failed to deliver on multiple fronts. Between the subpar food, lackluster service, and unpleasant atmosphere, I can’t say I’ll be returning anytime soon
