We ordered drinks and starters on arrival and received starters within about 10 minutes but had to wait a further 20 minutes for our drinks. We were allocated a waitress whom we didn’t see for the rest of our time here and instead just had to grab the attention of any waiter / waitress we could when we needing to order something. The starters were SMALL and very very over priced. Goats cheese salad £15 and consisted of 4 small bite size pieces of cheese, 8 chunks of beetroot and some leaves to decorate. The mains we ordered were better portions and better value for money and very tasty.

Restaurant was far too dark. Even with the table lamps, had to use my phone torch to read the menu. I'm all for subdued lighting, but this was next level. It just needs to be a bit brighter. I like to be able to see my food before eating it! Saying that, it won't stop be going back again, as food was lovely & great service.

Beautiful space but appalling service and overpriced minuscule portions. Perhaps go for a drink but don’t bother eating there

Truly one of the best meals I've ever had. My only regret is that the waiters recommended too many plates per person (3) and we couldn't eat all the food. For 3 people, we would have done better with 1 larger plate/entree per person and then 3-4 smaller plates (rather than the 5 we ordered). The building is stunning and the food exquisite. I live in the USA, so unfortunately I don't know that I'll ever be able to return. So glad my friends suggested this place.

A lively atmosphere. The staff were really very friendly and helpful. Food was very nice and they obviously take care in choosing quality ingredients for the dishes. I did feel it was a little expensive though but maybe that’s a reflection of the ingredients they use.

Food was nice, the beef was a little tough in parts. The veg could have been cooked for a little longer which is personal preference. Overall though it was a nice atmosphere and the service was great!

Unfortunately we had a bad experience at Refuge. We had booked lunch on our Wedding Anniversary for a table for 3. It started well with drinks and menus coming in good time. The menu is tapas style so we ordered about 3 small plates for each of us. The first (starter) plates came out in decent time but then we waited for our main plates. Our waiter had disappeared and returned about half an hour later, asking if we wanted desserts. Then we told him we still had not had our mains! It appears the waiter went on a break, the food had been cooked but no-one else had brought to our table. Staff were very apologetic and amended our bill with a 25% discount on the food we had had, but when I checked the bill at home realised they had still added 10% service charge so the over all discount we received was £4! We decided to leave but the staff said the remaining food was cooked so we could have it. We then waited another 15 minutes, because the chef had decided he could not serve the previous plates so cooked it again! By which time is was 3pm and we started at 1.15pm. We only were given 2 of the 4 plates we had originally ordered; one was supposed to be linguine but was actually spaghetti in a very watery sauce, which we left. It utterly spoiled our day. I'd even taken a day off work to take my wife out, which we never normally do for our anniversary. We went shopping and then went to Annie's for afternoon tea, which was excellent and helped retrieve the day. And we will not be going back to Refuge.

Love this place, great service, great food and we can take Suki our cockerpoo, she always loves the doggy dinner.

Great experience after theatre show. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Food and drink were delicious.
