Located in the beautiful village of Llangors, the perfect base for adventure in the Bannau Brycheiniog / Brecon Beacons, with hiking routes, watersports on the nearby lake, riding centres and a large indoor climinging centre. The Red Lion is a relaxed pub with a short menu of 6 to 8 main courses using fresh, seasonal and local ingredients such as vegetables grown at Bryn Celyn veg in Llangors and meats produced locally with the pub farmer owned. We have put a lot of attention into our wine list with diverse and interesting global wines. We also have a full bar with a great selection of draft and bottles beers. The pub refurbished in 2023 to a high standard using traditional building materials.

My first time booking through open app and found it very easy, quick and efficient. Had a very lovely family meal in very clean and pleasant surroundings with friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely go there again

Booked for a family meal with my husband and son while camping near by. Friendly welcome, lovely place menu a little limited due to high demand but food was delicious

One of the factors that attracted us to try this establishment was what appeared to be an interesting menu which included ale battered hake, as opposed to cod or haddock, and lobster bisque linguini with arctic prawns. Unfortunately on the day of our visit there was no hake available and no arctic prawns. I therefore had a bavette steak ( a steak which I had never had before or indeed heard of ) and my wife had lobster bisque linguini without prawns. My wife said that the linguini was very palatable but unfortunately my steak was less so, being somewhat overcooked. I asked what starters were available and was told that no starters were available and whist my wife for dessert had sticky toffee pudding, I asked what cheeses were available as an alternative to a dessert, and was told that they do not serve cheese. We were not asked if we would like wine with our meal so I had lager and my wife had Sauvignon Blanc wine. At least I ordered Sauvignon Blanc and the first glass was exactly that. I noticed the waitress was searching for different bottles to serve the second and third glasses of wine and used different bottles to serve those drinks which each only had a little amount of wine in each. I kept the receipt and on checking the following morning discovered that the second glass of wine was a Chardonnay and the third glass was a Portuguese white wine entitled Convento da Vila Blanco ( neither of which are Sauvignon Blanc). The reason given for the limited menu was that the chef had gone to Glastonbury. The visit to this establishment was not a pleasant experience and is not one which I wish to repeat.

Good food, good beer and a pleasant atmosphere. What more could you want? Not the normal scampi and chips type of pub menu. Our steak bivette was excellent surrounded by tasty vegetables and just enough proper chips. Recommended.
