Fondée en 1728, la taverne historique The Red Fox Inn & Tavern accueille les habitants et les voyageurs à Middleburg, aussi bien pour profiter de déjeuners copieux, que de dîners décontractés ou encore d'intimes soupers aux chandelles, dans la plus pure tradition de Virginie. Les tables de chêne, le mobilier artisanal, les cheminées en pierre, les poutres apparentes taillées à la main et les murs épais en pierres des champs créent autour de vous une ambiance de salle à manger conviviale à tout moment de la journée. L'équipe culinaire élabore des menus de saison avec des ingrédients indigènes de Virginie et du Sud ainsi que des modes patients et gratifiants de cuisson fumée, braisée ou rôtie.     Dinner for Four (two couples) at the Tavern! 5-stars thanks to a prefect meal presented to us by Patrick. Due to the price of the "5 course" Game and Seafood dinner I was fully expecting to be underwhelmed. However, a few things came together to make it worthy of 5 starts. First we were seated in an a more intimate room. At first we thought the fireplace room might be more desirable but they were loud (children etc). Second and most importantly, our server, Patrick knocked it out of the park. Conversation, pacing, attentiveness, delivery...everything. And yes, the Chef also prepared everything to perfection. Venison, short ribs, lobster...etc. While we won't be back...we were very pleased to have dined here.

    We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Tavern right after the Christmas Parade. We initially had some concerns about making it to our reservation because of parking /shuttle delays, but Sam was amazing - very helpful and accommodating and we made it to our lovely table by the fireplace for our dinner. We had our excited 4 yr old son with us and everyone was very kind and sweet, providing coloring materials for our son so he could be entertained! The Tavern ambiance at Red Fox is incomparable, the Game and Seafood Dinner was exquisite, and the entire experience is no doubt one for the books. Thank you Red Fox Inn & Tavern for the lovely time - we enjoyed our dinner and hope to be back for more!

    Food was probably the best I’ve had in Virginia. Everything was super flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and exceptionally well cooked. The service was also fantastic and the ambiance was top notch. We dined here for a birthday and the staff also made several small gestures to make the dinner feel extra special for the birthday individual. Would definitely be back for a special occasion dining experience.

    The wife and I have been dining here for the last 3 years. It’s a very special restaurant to us and the professionalism of staff is 5/5. Cleaniness 5/5. Food 100/100…the chief cooks the duck so well, my wife always gets it. We also want to do an honorable mention of Sebastian - our server who has been taking care of us the last few visits. We are impressed with his hard work and dedication to knowing everything on the menu, as well as how personable he is. Thank you to Red Fox Inn & Tavern!!

    Very expensive for a mediocre experience both in service and food quality. Didn’t find the dishes to be exceptional by any means. The service was not attentive, staff didn’t know the menu, didn’t come by to fill up our waters throughout the entire meal. Felt very impersonal for such an expensive meal.

    Nice ambience and nice service, although my waiter mistook a Côté de Rhone wine request for a Côte Rôtie, which of course is 4 times more expensive. One dish was tasteless and all on the menu were very heavy, maybe mixing too many ingredients as well.
