The Red Fox is an Italian American restaurant and lounge brought to you by All Day Hospitality Group (Tony & Elaine's, Ciao Roma, Farmacia, Ward 8). The focus of the menu is on handmade pasta and a mix of throwback dishes and Italian classics, with a fantastic cocktail menu with nostalgic martinis and high quality seasonal cocktails, and an excellent wine list. Located in The North End, The Red Fox pays homage to the Italian American neighborhood and some of the great old school establishments in the city.

Between the two of us we had 3 drinks, 2 appetizers, 2 meals, and a dessert with the bill coming in at $172. Everything was amazing. It appears that when the Red Fox commits to something they really commit to it. You have to know the restaurant is there because there are no signs other than letters stuck to the glass indicating an establishment in the basement. When you walk down the stairs it looks closed due to the newspaper covering all the windows, but when you walk in you are transported back to the days of prohibition with the secretive nature and the dim lighting. My wife and I enjoyed cocktails to start and they were first rate. I then started with the Arancini, which was the most flavorful version of this dish that I have ever enjoyed, and my wife enjoyed the Prosciutto and Zeppole. For dinner my wife tried the pasta special which was Cappelletti with Parmesan and a white sauce. She found it flavorful and delicious. I opted for the Carbonara. Every bite was well balanced with serious bits of pancetta and a black peppery tone to the dish that made every bite pop in my mouth. Portion sizes were reasonable so we had no leftovers and we left feeling satisfied, but not uncomfortably full. I did top off the meal with a slice of the chocolate cake with bourbon sauce and peanut brittle. In retrospect I wish I had skipped dessert because this was the one food item that fell flat for me. The peanut brittle wafer which topped the cake was wonderful, the bourbon sauce was bland, and the chocolate cake was confusing as it was dense like a fudge cake, but still cakey and the entire thing was ice cold (which may account for the bland flavor). I am looking forward to turning this into a regular spot to enjoy meals!

The restaurant was running extremely late on their reservations to the point where it seemed like they had given away our spots to walk ins and overall the service was not good. The dirty martinis were also pre mixed and not kept cold.

Great restaurant and good vibes for sure. Service was okay. Food was pretty good but a bit expensive for the portions. Overall would come back!

My husband and I came for date night and we had a reservation. It’s a speakeasy “vibe”, but not in the true sense of what a speakeasy is. Still, it’s cute and small. It was very busy. Upon being seated, we I ordered 2 Citronella E Té cocktails. My husband sent his back because it tasted too sweet and syrupy. I kept mine but agree that it wasn’t the best I’ve had. There was also no presentation on the cocktail, which is too bad because usually speakeasy cocktails are visually appealing. We ordered Tuna Crudo as a starter, which was delicious. I wish there was more of it! They do have bread service, with a melody of olives in olive oil on the side, which is also good. We asked for a second while we were waiting for dinner. They were sold out of the Orecchiette so I got Carbonara pasta instead. My husband got the Linguine con Vongole. I sent the Carbonara back because it was topped with pancetta and I don’t eat pork. I didn’t think to ask if the dish had any pork but we did let the waitress know about my husband’s allergy to crustaceans and that we both don’t eat pork when she asked about allergies and dietary restrictions. The restaurant manager came and apologized. She offered to have a new Carbonara dish made without the pancetta. She also comped my meal and offered us dessert on the house. I appreciate that they went above and beyond like this. My husband thought his dish was “just okay”, which is also how I’d describe the Carbonara and the overall experience at Red Fox.

Insanely amazing food and ambience, was perfect for a birthday service, we were sat down late but the service was amazing, they gave my party free birthday drinks as well as a card

Great food, great service, great ambience, music choice could have been better, either go full Sinatra or chill house music, the music was inconsistent with the dark and romantic vibe

The ambiance and drinks were great, but the food was lacking. Service was a bit slow, but we were there on a weeknight so maybe that's why. It's expensive for the quality of food.
