The Pyewipe is a family run business opened in 1998 by Robert and Sara Pickles. Situated only a 30 minute walk away from Lincoln city centre, a leisurely stroll along Britain’s oldest man made waterway which is has surely become a hidden gem in Lincolnshire.

Popular as a ramblers’ favourite watering hole, narrowboat mooring point or restaurant for the discerning diner, The Pyewipe is all things to all folk. The perfect setting for a casual lunch with the family and friends or an outside drink! The addition of the Lodge in 2001 and the Big Hat Tipis in 2016 allows us to be an idyllic location for weddings, corporate events or business conferences. Please feel free to peruse our website, however only a visit can truly bring our legendary location, cuisine and hospitality to life.

Lovely food, steak cooked really good and it was tender. Not too busy for a Saturday night so didn't feel rushed. First time we have been and assumed it was table service for drinks as well as food but I don't think it is.

Food was very good, mains could have done with extra vegetables and they shouldn't charge extra for veg on kids' meals when they are already nearly £10. Service was atrocious. Had to get up 4 times to ask for things at the bar: can we order food, can we get more drinks, can we order dessert, can we have the bill. We were there for over 3 hours for 2 courses. Staff just stand around at the bar chatting and bring out 2 thimble sized water glasses at a time for large tables. Sort out the service - it's not nearly good enough which is a shame as the venue and food are nice.

The service was very friendly and relaxed ...wait time was just right ....not rushed but not lax ...food was excellent and we thought that it was priced just right ..all in all a good evening

Off the beaten track this place is in a lovely situation by the canal side. The service was outstanding, food arrived quickly and was hot. Table service helps make the atmosphere quiet and uncluttered. Although expensive the food was outstanding. My only observation is that the decor is a bit dated

I booked this venue for a lunch with friends hoping for a warm sunny day by the river , unfortunately as British weather can be it was wet and the traffic to get there was terrible. Fear not ! The restaurant were accommodating when we phone to explain our delay and offered a warm friendly welcome. A huge choice of meals to pick from which were delicious and did not disappoint. The deserts were just as yummy. Drinks were comparable with local restaurants and we did not feel rushed. Despite the weather this restaurant was a good choice on a miserable day . Would highly recommend and revisit.

Great food , as always. We had a Camembert starter, Duck and Beef stroganoff from the specials board and the Lamb . All were beautifully cooked . The desserts were very hard to choose from but we plumped for the eton mess and cheesecake and cleared our plates
