The Punchbowl is a 17th century gastro pub, located in the heart of rural Essex and the Crouch Valley and the South Essex Salt marshes.

We offer nose-to-tail style menu, with unpretentious dishes that focus on flavour. Everything is made in house - from bread to mayonnaise, and we use local, seasonal and organic ingredients. Our menu changes daily, as the season's best comes in, and always features day boat fish, meat, offal, rare breed steaks and excellent vegetarian cookery.

Our beautiful garden bar has a lawn and york-stone patio looking out across the farmland of Paglesham and the River Crouch. Throughout the summer we offer BBQ dining from our hand-cranked Asado and Rotisserie Grills.

Wine Tasting experience including Food Pairing £50 per person. This is our Second Wine Club Event at The Punch Bowl, This will be a Varietal Tasting: A tasting of the eight most popular grape varieties from a range of countries. Giving you a chance to try the most popular grape varieties next to each other and see the difference. White wines would be Chenin Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay and Sauvignon. Red wines would be Pinot Noir, Malbec, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. Simon Jarvis from Hills Prospect will be hosting this event for us. Those of you who attended our first one on the 3rd of July have the opportunity to attend 5 Wine Club Events and get your 6th visit free ( our December Event)

We have been to to Punchbowl several times, it truly is a hidden gem. The owners and the staff are friendly and welcoming, creating a warm, cozy family atmosphere. The food is exceptional with an emphasis on good local produce, coupled with a great selection of local ales and wines. There is also an impressive outdoor drinking and dining area with it's own bar and stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Whether you're looking for a quiet place to enjoy a special meal out or a cozy spot to have a drink, The Punchbowl is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended!

We took part in the first Punchbowl Quiz Night & it was brilliant! The pub was packed which made the atmosphere great, bottle of bubbly we preordered was waiting on the table for us. Service was brilliant despite having a full house and being quite tightly packed amongst the tables of teams. Food looked delicious at the half time break in the quiz, such a lovely touch having a quiz night menu for snacks! Quiz itself was great fun & it was lovely to see the owners getting involved with all the fun, really made it feel like you were round a friends house for games night! Can’t wait for the next one!!

The pub has been made to make you feel very comfortable , with a separate dining . The tables are set out lovely with white tablecloths which you don’t see much of now . The staff are very friendly and attentive. The food is cooked very well but the portions are very small and the prices very high. Would go back for a drink but probably wouldn’t eat there again purely because of price .
