Ian provided excellent service. Menu hasn’t changed. Every once in a while, there should be a new dish or a variation on a standard dish.

We dined at The Prado prior to seeing a show at the Old Globe Theatre. It was a Tuesday so Date Night specials were available. We shared a Caesar Salad then each got an entree. My wife had the beef short ribs which she loved, and I had the pork prime rib. The pork was perfectly done with a very tasty mustard seed sauce. Apart from the Date Night special we had a Pina Colada Creme Brulee. Absolutely superb. Our waiter, Michael, was very pleasant and helpful with choices.

Service was awful. We ordered a bottle of wine and weren’t informed that it was unavailable for over 20 minutes. The server held our order until the wine situation was resolved, but did not communicate that. The Caesar salad was lukewarm. The pasta was mediocre. The paella was good. The manager comped the salad and paella, which was appreciated.

We’ve eaten here several times and it’s usually fine. But this time, after telling our server that we had to make a 7:00 theatre curtain, he disappeared after serving the entrees and never returned until 15 min before our curtain, never asking if we wanted dessert. By the time he came back, we didn’t have time to order it, much less to eat it, because it takes 10 min to walk to the theatre.

I am 5'5 and 1/2. I could not sit comfortably in the chairs in the dining room. It looks like the same chairs are on the patio. So for anyone my height and shorter you may want to ask for a booth. The service was fantastic in that they moved us to another table.

Patio was really nice. Had the lavash and hummus, grilled cauliflower, short rib, and paella. Lavash and humus was really good. Grilled caulifower was also quite enjoyable. Short rib was better than paella but the paella was still pretty good. Service was wonderful.

Food was slow to come out and extremely over-priced. Ordered the “chefs-cut steak entree. $55 for ~ 5oz. of meat. Taste was good and potatoes were brilliant, just a lot of $ for little food. Wife had mushroom risotto and it was pretty bland. May be our last visit. Menu was very sparse.

Had 2 appetizers that I highly recommend. Roasted cauliflower was delicious as was the beef tenderloin sushi roll, which I couldn’t even finish. Took home 1/2 of the roll for lunch. Delicious!

Overall, our dining experience at The Prado was generally enjoyable. If I were to register criticisms, they would be as follows: 1. Menu didn’t offer more fish/seafood options 2. Mussels and clams appetizer wasn’t enough to share, and the mussel meat was quite undersized. 3. Mushroom risotto was just average and hence rather disappointing. 4. Our waiter was adamant about how good the carrot cake is (his fav dessert there)—found it to be rather dry and underwhelming. Otherwise, our waiter was quite attentive and informative. Go to The Prado for the (outdoor) ambience, but don’t go with high culinary expectations.
