A rural public house serving local beers, Berkshire gin and ciders, as well as a great wine selection. Bar snacks and full meals available 7 days a week. Cooking over a central grill makes for great theatrical cooking from our open-plan kitchen, overseen by Head Chef Nick Galer.

Whilst a subtle Basque feel will permeate throughout, its roots are firmly founded on those of a classic English pub – so while featuring top end Basque dishes fit for a destination dinner, it also offers simple pub snacks for a light lunch… while the food may be inspired by the Basque country, the ingredients are local… and while the wines may be sourced from Iberia, the beer is very much English.

The crowning glory is the sensational open kitchen, with a huge, CHARCOAL FIRED parilla grill and a BRICK OVEN as its centrepiece and all in front of the guests – very visual and very theatrical.

The Pot Kiln has been a really exciting project, and we’re thrilled to be finally open.

The food did not disappoint and we were truly looked after. Some of the more junior staff are training still but they’re really friendly and everyone has to start somewhere

Last time visited The Pot Kiln was between lockdowns Have been a regular for years. Sadly will not be returning. Portions small and not value for money. Had to send back a sharing main dish as it was underwhelming. The chef did approach our table to enquire which was appreciated as we understand it is difficult times particularly in hospitality. Why not offer Sunday lunch in addition to a smaller tapas menu. Beautiful spot - however sadly menu in our opinion did not hit the spot. Thank you to the team on the day to help to resolve

Lovely night out with good friends at the re imagined Pot Kiln. So happy to have it back, even better than before. Sad to see some features gone, like the old bar, but the overall design is outstanding, especially the open kitchen giving off a frisson of being somewhere special. The food was delicious, lots of small plates that we shared and discussed every morsel!! Thank you, we will be back soon x

Having known the of the original Pot Kiln, with its friendly, classic pub bar and intimate dining areas, I was taken aback by the now open ‘modern’ makeover. Gone the little bars and the dog friendly area, in their place, a shiny new look alike of the Royal Oak (their pertner pub) with its open kitchen and large dining room. The jury is out. The staff are brilliant, help0ful and friendly, the food, well that left me a little confused. I respect the Basque food tradition of superb, fresh Ingredients are barely touched, by the preparation, seafood at the top of the list. In a group of five, we were able to order a descent selection of the Tapas style dishes and to boost the calories, we had the 12-hour lamb to share. There were no classic pintxo food that I could see, Overall, the offerings were interesting, but could do better. I was especially disappointed by the only anchovy dish where the anchovy was conspicuous by its absence, buried in very small pieces within a lettuce drenched in an average dressing – sorry, but it would be better to see the anchovy whole, marinated in vinegar then drenched in that Basque olive oil, and garlic, perhaps served with some bread. A good paella would also be great sharing dish. No doubt the menu will change with the season, I guess it is a mix of the Basque influence with a hint of the Pot Kiln of old with the likes of the 12 hour lamb (which was excellent). If they will let me in again, I would love to try more of the dishes and to see how the menu evolves over time. Footnote – the chef sent over a ‘taster’ while we waited for the main event, pigs’ ears, I fear they were so very hard, they were undigestible, and a danger to your filling/caps, et al.

The newly revamped Pot Kiln is a great place to dine. the quality of the food and service was very good. We felt that the open plan kitchen was a big let down mainly due to the extractor fans being so loud that they drowned out the soft music that was playing in the background this clearly need addressing as if the restaurant had been busy (It was a Monday night with few dinners) conversation would have been difficult. This aside we will be back.

Delicious food and fabulous service. We enjoyed the variety of different dishes available. Tried a recommended new wine so all in all a lovely occasion. We went for mixed tapas to start and shared the rib of beef with baked potatoes and charred leafy greens.

This place is stunning! The building, eating area and decoration can not be faulted. The kitchen area is also open so you can watch the chefs at work, which I think is great. The food here is limited. It’s a very small menu and you have to put your own meals together and with each item is an added cost (example pork chops were £12 for 1 and I was advised to get 2. Cheesy chips £5.50 and Summer leaves £5.50) . It cost me £68 for a kids meal (£12.50), mocktail and my own food with a glass of wine. It’s not good value, but I can’t deny the food was good, just posh small portions.
