A rural public house serving local beers, Berkshire gin and ciders, as well as a great wine selection. Bar snacks and full meals available 7 days a week. Cooking over a central grill makes for great theatrical cooking from our open-plan kitchen, overseen by Head Chef Nick Galer.

Whilst a subtle Basque feel will permeate throughout, its roots are firmly founded on those of a classic English pub – so while featuring top end Basque dishes fit for a destination dinner, it also offers simple pub snacks for a light lunch… while the food may be inspired by the Basque country, the ingredients are local… and while the wines may be sourced from Iberia, the beer is very much English.

The crowning glory is the sensational open kitchen, with a huge, CHARCOAL FIRED parilla grill and a BRICK OVEN as its centrepiece and all in front of the guests – very visual and very theatrical.

The Pot Kiln has been a really exciting project, and we’re thrilled to be finally open.

Very disappointing experience. The food was terrible, not basque food for sure, the service was bad and slow, staff were argumentative and non accommodating to simple requests. The meat was bad, the prawns were not fresh at all. We will not be going back and definitely the prices did t match the quality of food and service.

A fabulous dining experience! The staff were so friendly, helpful and attentive and the food and wine were just perfect. We started off with four tapas to share thinking we would go on to a shared dish. But the tapas were so delicious we had two more and then we were definitely replete. It was my husband's birthday and to our surprise he was presented with a lighted candle placed on the most yummy nougat. The restaurant was full, no surprise as the standard of cuisine was excellent. We stayed the night in one of their superior rooms, which was in a beautiful location and extremely comfortable.

We had a couple of starters, the seaweed and cheese puff things, both very tasty. We followed this with the fish stew, a huge bowl for two. Tasted delicious and highly recommended. Followed this with the nougat and the apple pie. The whole thing was a culinary treat from beginning to end. The red wine (Argentine plus Rioja) also went well. Enjoyed every minute, with the happy helpful staff just adding to the experience.

Great pub, lovely staff and mostly excellent food. We ordered lots of small plates which all came together which was slightly annoying, as we had been told they wouldn’t! Be clear with the order you want them in. High lights were the prawns, croquetas, white bean & aubergine veg, lamb chops. Recommend!

Great friendly service - excellent nibbles - especially the salted almonds and crispy pigs ears. And a lovely unhurried meal of tapas/ sharing plates.

Disappointed. Expensive, small tapas portions left us underwhelmed not feeling this represented acceptable value for money. The food quality was mixed, with some being under cooked. Most food was not hot enough and cooled quickly as all was severed on cold plates and dishes. Some of the apparently more appealing dishes were only offered as a sharing option. We were greeted well, but the table service was odd, mistimed, and awkward. Our party was asked twice in quick succession if we were ready to order food, and towards the end of our meal three times if we wanted further drinks after we thought making it clear we didn't. On leaving we weren't given either space or time before we had to make way for our table to be cleared. The restaurant didn't appear to be over busy.

I live locally & have had a very good experience in the past. Unfortunately it is evident that the young staff have not had the proper training & were struggling. We like tapas & have experienced really tasty tapas while on holiday recently. Good quality, tasty & didn't break the bank. Unfortunately this was not our experience at The Pot Kiln this weekend. Very disappointing.

Fabulous menu, food stated great, but very expensive for the size of the portions. Better value can be found elsewhere.

Lovely food in a beautiful pub/restaurant. Really exciting vegetarian/vegan options as well as beautifully cooked fish and meat based dishes. More than your average tapas fare. Recommended.
