A rural public house serving local beers, Berkshire gin and ciders, as well as a great wine selection. Bar snacks and full meals available 7 days a week. Cooking over a central grill makes for great theatrical cooking from our open-plan kitchen, overseen by Head Chef Nick Galer.

Whilst a subtle Basque feel will permeate throughout, its roots are firmly founded on those of a classic English pub – so while featuring top end Basque dishes fit for a destination dinner, it also offers simple pub snacks for a light lunch… while the food may be inspired by the Basque country, the ingredients are local… and while the wines may be sourced from Iberia, the beer is very much English.

The crowning glory is the sensational open kitchen, with a huge, CHARCOAL FIRED parilla grill and a BRICK OVEN as its centrepiece and all in front of the guests – very visual and very theatrical.

The Pot Kiln has been a really exciting project, and we’re thrilled to be finally open.

    Whilst the food was fantastic (as was the menu), the whole experience was let down by the service which was incredibly slow. We had to ask for menus and ask to order drinks. The mains then took an incredibly long time to come out after starters including our kids meal we ordered. Unfortunately, this did let the meal down and we wouldn't rush back until things change as we have young children.

    Fantastic dining experience, had a table in front of the open kitchen. Food was incredible.

    We struggled to understand the menu, when we did order we definitely did not have enough food for 3 people but the server said that it would be fine. The meat that we did have was undercooked compared to how we ordered it and had hardly any meat and lots of fat, which given how expensive was not good. We also did not enjoy being sat right next to the kitchen, when we got home we realised that our clothes smelt like smoke from the grill. It feels really strange to be sat, what felt like, in the kitchen. And when we did ask if we could move there was no attempt at moving or understanding as to why we wanted to move

    Having eaten at a great many Spanish tapas restaurants in the past, sadly this was a disappointment. The food was bland (my fragitelli peppers weren’t even cooked very well, lots of uncooked bits, like the chef had been in a rush), very small for the price (a ciabatta roll with a very small amount of cheese in should not be £9.50) and generally overpromised. The place itself is lovely, the beer was good and the staff great. But, the food was too much of a let down, we won’t be coming back sadly.

    Amazing food, great service and a wonderful place. The grill is fantastic - great Plaice and steak. Bar staff are brilliantly attentive and pleasant.

    Best meal locally for some considerable time. Great refurbishment and relaunch, everything was good. The food was excellent but it was the staff that really made this a brilliant experience.
