The Plough is a cosy country pub, just outside Rye, with a beer garden offering picturesque views of the Brede valley. Our food offer is pub classics made incredibly as well as creative cooking, whilst being ingredient led. We primarily use British produce and work with local suppliers to ensure we always source the very best ingredients we can get our hands on. Inside we have a warm atmosphere with log fires and friendly service.

We had a delicious meal and service was attentive and friendly. I would recommend the lamb and oregano croquettes. I don’t really eat meat much and I have never tried lamb due to horrible smell or at least I feel it has a horrible smell ( I’m very picky!). My husband let me tried the croquettes and there were delicious. So delicate in flavour that you don’t notice the lamb. I had hake and it was divine and for pudding a delicious sticky toffee pudding. I had the house French rose and it was stunning. Thank you for a lovely lunch celebrating our anniversary. We will be back :)

Not our first visit for food and the quality is always consistently good with a really interesting, well executed menu

Have been visiting the Plough since the early 80s and have generally had great food. The two chefs there use unusual ingredients from a variety of sources. Have no hesitation in recommending the Plough for its excellent range of dishes, ambience and views. Look forward to more future visits.

We went to the Plough for their set weekday lunch which offers good value for money. It was very quiet even on a very nice day. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We both enjoyed our starters and my main course was fine but my partner was not happy with his port which was very tough. He did enjoy his pannacotta dessert though. All in all, not the best experience we have had

Great Sunday lunch would highly recommend. We had starters and main (beef was to die for!). Definitely would go again, one thing to call out was the wait for the main, however all was forgiven when it turned up clean plates … also side of cauliflower was yummy X

The chef must have been on holiday. My dinner was tasteless. Very disappointed. Don’t know what happened.

Great pub, we visited here with our dog for a Sunday roast and was very impressed with the food and service. Would recommend.
