While Tamworth is widely known as the capital of Australian country music, it’s not often celebrated for its restaurant scene. However, this venue has changed all that.

Housed within one of the town's most iconic heritage buildings is The Pig and Tinderbox.

Proudly part of The Central Hospitality Group, this innovative modern restaurant tends to be packed out most nights with tropical decor and a menu that focuses on sharing. There is also an impressive drinks list with plenty of craft beers and cocktail jugs on offer.

The unusual name harks back to the old-school pubs of the past, but "The Pig" (better known to the locals) is something that will be sticking around well into the future.

Unfortunately I wasn’t given a booth for my husband and I as requested. Seating is closer than I would like to others. Very large loud party going on at a table so it was quite distracting. It wasn’t the romantic date night I was looking for last week. The food was tasty and we enjoyed the wine. They did mess up my husband’s beer order. Next time if the weather is nice I will request a table on the porch.

A generally lovely place with good food unfortunately ruined by being placed at a table right next to a door to the fridge. Any time the door open and closed, the smell emitted was foul enough for us to notice and wish it'd be the last time someone came to use the store. Also rather disappointed there is no longer a sweet wine option, I did miss my glass of Moscato.

My colleagues and I attended for an EOFY get together and cannot fault the staff or the food. We had an exceptional time and the service was terrific. Thank you for a delicious meal and your attention to details. It did not go unnoticed.

Ability to book online was great, and we were able to view the menu before we went there. Appetizers were exceptional, we had 3 to share between 2 adults and was the perfect amount. We had the Korean fried chicken, green beans and fries for mains (to share) and were full by the end. Wait time for food was apx. 10mins for appetizers and another 25 for mains, which given how busy they were was commendable. Staff were attentive but not in your face. Great cocktail menu!! Well priced for the type of restaurant it is. Was noisy, but is only a small(ish) space, in an old building so to be expected. Cannot fault - highly recommend and will definitely be going back!!!

Absolutely delicious food. Very fresh and tasty, I love that it’s a bit different to mainstream and there are many different flavours to try. I had a beautiful raspberry cocktail that was the best cocktail I have ever tasted. The staff were very busy on Saturday night but were very professional , polite and welcoming. I will definitely be coming back

Menu wasnted explained despite a change. We weren't aware that the dished didn't come with sides and had to order separate. Very, very noises, services was lovely but on the slower side. The food was very nice. No kid friendly meals, which was disappointing and was also not mentioned after I told staff when making a booking that we'd have children with us.
