We went for the winter and west coast afternoon tea. Service was great, very knowledgeable and timely. Unfortunately, parts of the meal did not measure up to expectations. The tea was great, no complaints there. The savouries were good and had interesting variety. Flavours were on point and everything was cooked perfectly. Some aspects were not as fresh as they could have been. That shouldn't have been an issue since we arrived at 11:15. The scones met expectations, and the accompaniment of whipped cream and compote was very nice. The dessert was very disappointing. The carrot cake, the meringue, and the hazelnut pear macaron were quite bad, with the chocolate being okay. The espresso macaron was incredible but it didn't make up for the rest of the dish. This would have been a 3 or 3.5 overall but the price brings it way down. It's severely overpriced for what it is. The charm of the environment doesn't outweigh the small portion sizes and the inconsistent quality.

The Pendray Tea House is a beautiful location and is stunning inside and out. The service however leaves a lot to be desired. Arriving and being seated was a little confusing and the staff seemed busy and rushed. The tea itself was just ok, I found most of their items to be very dry. The salmon pinwheels were practically inedible because the lox was so cold and almost at frozen level. The other sandwiches were ok but nothing special and the scones just fell apart because they were so crumbly. That’s not how they’re supposed to be so, a little disappointing for the price. I have been for tea at the empress and it is FAR superior to the Pendray in both atmosphere, service and taste. Service was the number one issue for me, it just wasn’t good. We waited far too long just to order a drink and get our service going and when we asked for clarity on the towers, it was even more confusing. I don’t think we will be back for the tea.

From the moment we walked in we were well taken care of. My mom uses a walker and we were seated where she could easily get in and out. The Tea House is also fully accessible.

Jan was a great host and the team took care of our dietary requests. The tea was nice and hot with good selection. Would definitely come back next time!

Beautiful old Inn with beautiful stained glass windows. Lovely place settings and serve. We had breakfast tea. Our choice of a number of teas and several choices for food. My husband and I each got something different. For instance, I had hard boiled eggs and he had little omelette like muffins. Food was decent and a reasonable price.

The food and ambiance are very good. The only thing I would suggest is that they use hotter water for the tea. I especially appreciate the fact that they are willing to substitute some items because of my food requirements. Have just booked them again for November as I have company coming from out of town.
