Such a wonderful experience! Ash at the front counter had the sweetest smile, so welcoming and our waitress were amazing—excellent hospitality! It was my mom’s birthday, and they even brought out a piece of cake with a candle. So sweet! My mom had a great time, and we’ll definitely be back. Thank you so much!

We went for my birthday and had a great experience. Out of the 5 of us, only myself and my husband had experienced afternoon tea before. It was a perfect introduction for my daughter and our friends. Beautiful setting, excellent food, Cara was warm and welcoming. My daughter’s order got messed up and it was very quickly corrected.

Gluten-free high tea was delicious!! And my young daughters devoured their children’s high tea items. We couldn’t finish the desserts, so we brought them back to the hotel. Friendly and helpful, unpretentious service too!

We went for the winter and west coast afternoon tea. Service was great, very knowledgeable and timely. Unfortunately, parts of the meal did not measure up to expectations. The tea was great, no complaints there. The savouries were good and had interesting variety. Flavours were on point and everything was cooked perfectly. Some aspects were not as fresh as they could have been. That shouldn't have been an issue since we arrived at 11:15. The scones met expectations, and the accompaniment of whipped cream and compote was very nice. The dessert was very disappointing. The carrot cake, the meringue, and the hazelnut pear macaron were quite bad, with the chocolate being okay. The espresso macaron was incredible but it didn't make up for the rest of the dish. This would have been a 3 or 3.5 overall but the price brings it way down. It's severely overpriced for what it is. The charm of the environment doesn't outweigh the small portion sizes and the inconsistent quality.

Impromptu decision to have tea with 3 friends after our arrival into Victoria from Port Angeles. Best decision ever! So beautiful and cozy inside, and the tea & food were perfection! Service was excellent and friendly.

The Pendray Tea House is a beautiful location and is stunning inside and out. The service however leaves a lot to be desired. Arriving and being seated was a little confusing and the staff seemed busy and rushed. The tea itself was just ok, I found most of their items to be very dry. The salmon pinwheels were practically inedible because the lox was so cold and almost at frozen level. The other sandwiches were ok but nothing special and the scones just fell apart because they were so crumbly. That’s not how they’re supposed to be so, a little disappointing for the price. I have been for tea at the empress and it is FAR superior to the Pendray in both atmosphere, service and taste. Service was the number one issue for me, it just wasn’t good. We waited far too long just to order a drink and get our service going and when we asked for clarity on the towers, it was even more confusing. I don’t think we will be back for the tea.
