The Pelican Inn is a quaint, late 17th century pub with a warm, cosy atmosphere along with eight comfortable bedrooms and a friendly welcome guaranteed. We're proud to offer great food and real ales in our spacious bar and restaurant areas, as well as ensuite accommodation - all at superb value. We're also just 8 miles from junction 14 of the M4, making our pub the perfect meeting place for work or simply a relaxing spot to watch the ducks, read the newspaper and watch the world go by.

The staff need to be more attended to customers as we were sat waiting for at least 20 minutes waiting to please our order and then when we did it was wrong

Good food, a tad over cooked Arrincini. Single waitress clearly overwhelmed by one booking of 6. Very pleasant but was just left on her own and main order taken wrongly resulting in whole different meal being cooked. We were the only eating table which was surprising, and only saw 4 other people which was sad. Definitely would go again but would advise 2 instead of one staff to cope as unfair on the lovely waitress.

Delicious Sunday roast for Father’s Day. Windows don’t open which made it warm. Service a bit slow but it was a busy day. Lovely décor inside and two huge car parks.

Food was excellent, but service was a little slow - no one seemed in a hurray and the pub wasn’t busy. Outside looked a little tired and doesn’t reflect the good food inside.

Would have loved to give a better review but since we were told that they wouldn't accommodate our booking because they had decided to close kitchen early. This is the second negative experience we've had here so won't be trying them again

We have been many times as access is good for a wheelchair. Always welcoming reception from staff.Great food, reasonably priced.

Disappointed my friend and I just wanted a sandwich the choice was Proper Club Sandwich or a Fish Finger Sandwich we decided to have the club sandwich only to told it was not available. I think there could more choices of sandwich’s

First time at the Pelican - staff were helpful and friendly and my request for a slightly out of the way table to accommodate our dog was ideal. Lunch menu was extensive including the main dinner options. Our group of 5 all ordered different mains and everyone commented on the standard of the food - presentation, flavours and value. We will definitely be coming here again, especially in the better weather as their outside space looked brilliant too - loads of areas outside behind the pub with the Kennet flowing through at the boundary. Recommend a visit!

Very very small portions. 3 mini (overcooked) sausages for £5 really isn’t okay. Sunday roasts had a really small amount of veg and the gravy was very ‘gloopy’. For the money they cost, would have expected a lot more or totally gourmet. Asked for more veg and asked to speak to a manager. No managers work on a Sunday lunchtime and 2 17 year olds were left in charge. They were amazing but are 17 - what could they do! Was told the chef would give us free puddings to sweeten our lunchtime and a bowl of mixed veg was brought out. The bill came and they only took off the children’s puddings and 1x beer. Even the table next door overheard and were mortified as they had heard what we were told about puddings. When questioned the girl said ‘I said some puddings’. I laughed, paid the bill and thanked the lord I could leave. I felt so bad for those two waitresses. We used to go here a lot. Won’t be returning but I really hope whatever’s happened gets fixed as a year ago, this place was fantastic!

Lunch with friends on a Monday when most local Restaurants are closed..Friendly service and good pub food. Busy Pub so suggest you get there early or there is likely to be a wait for food.
