As you walk into the Peacock you get the feeling of history, built in 1652, the hotel was originally used as a dower house for Haddon Hall. The link between the two survives today as Lord Edward Manners brought the hotel back into his estate in 2004, the hotel has many pieces of unique furniture and art work from the Estate. The Bar is another step back into the past with a copper topped bar and untouched surroundings, the extensive cocktail and drinks list can be enjoyed in the bar or lounge before dinner. Our restaurant team have been the proud bearers of three AA rosettes–the top ten percent in the country. We offer both an indulgent, fine dining menu & a more relaxed bar menu to suit most tastes or moods. We serve truly local ingredients including organically-reared beef & lamb from the Haddon Estate. We are open for lunch in our bar and restaurant Tuesday to Saturday and dinner in our bar Tuesday to Friday and dinner in our restaurant Tuesday to Saturday.

True Michelin quality. We came for’ lighter lunch’. Three course à la cart.-the mains being a half size: what a genius idea and the reduced price made it all the more attractive. Will definitely be back for more!

A good meal in a quality establishment. The food was good but not great considering its reputation. I figure I’ll visit again to try the taster menu to get a better feel for what’s on offer. I tried some new (to me ) dishes and although I enjoyed them I think I’d have been better off sticking to something more tried and tested. The lamb went down well with everyone so it was probably my poor choices.

Can’t fault The Peacock. The special lunchtime menu offering a full starter and dessert and half a main means you can experience the full menu. The staff were friendly and efficient and sitting outside on a beautiful day was a bonus.

We were a group of 4 and we all selected from the £35 lunchtime menu. There was a choice of 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts plus 2 types of home-made bread. We all agreed that our individual choices were delicious. The quality of the produce,and the execution and presentation of the dishes were superb. Sadly, we were all driving, so we were unable to order wine but the list looked very impressive. The meal itself was excellent value for money but £7. 50 for a bottle of water seemed rather excessive!
