As you walk into the Peacock you get the feeling of history, built in 1652, the hotel was originally used as a dower house for Haddon Hall. The link between the two survives today as Lord Edward Manners brought the hotel back into his estate in 2004, the hotel has many pieces of unique furniture and art work from the Estate. The Bar is another step back into the past with a copper topped bar and untouched surroundings, the extensive cocktail and drinks list can be enjoyed in the bar or lounge before dinner. Our restaurant team have been the proud bearers of three AA rosettes–the top ten percent in the country. We offer both an indulgent, fine dining menu & a more relaxed bar menu to suit most tastes or moods. We serve truly local ingredients including organically-reared beef & lamb from the Haddon Estate. We are open for lunch in our bar and restaurant Tuesday to Saturday and dinner in our bar Tuesday to Friday and dinner in our restaurant Tuesday to Saturday.

We really enjoyed our two course lunch taken in the cosy bar area. The service was impeccable. However the bar was almost empty and it felt a bit strange to be the only people in there at lunchtime. But otherwise, a lovely Saturday lunchtime treat and we will return. But maybe next time we’ll sit in the restaurant instead!

Beautiful place to dine, was so grateful that they acknowledged my moms Bday with a card. We sat in the garden as it was a lovely day and made the most of it. Service was great, food was nice although I had Venison but I must admit it was over done for my liking, rather chewy and very dry so unfortunately couldnt eat it all, however the rest of the food was good. I would recommend this place.

Had a lovely lunch. The lighter three courses was very good, with an interesting menu and gracious service. Great cocktails too. The negroni was especially good.

True Michelin quality. We came for’ lighter lunch’. Three course à la cart.-the mains being a half size: what a genius idea and the reduced price made it all the more attractive. Will definitely be back for more!

A good meal in a quality establishment. The food was good but not great considering its reputation. I figure I’ll visit again to try the taster menu to get a better feel for what’s on offer. I tried some new (to me ) dishes and although I enjoyed them I think I’d have been better off sticking to something more tried and tested. The lamb went down well with everyone so it was probably my poor choices.

Can’t fault The Peacock. The special lunchtime menu offering a full starter and dessert and half a main means you can experience the full menu. The staff were friendly and efficient and sitting outside on a beautiful day was a bonus.
