Would not feel the need to return here for afternoon tea. Ambience was very cool and the food/tea was excellent. The service was disappointing - we were told that we were unable to split an afternoon tea as outlined in terms and conditions on reservation, which was not true (this is not listed anywhere). We ended up with double the amount of food that we wanted at double the price. Service overall was subpar, it was difficult to hear the waitresses and when asking questions about the water, we were met with some snooty responses.

Great experience if you want to avoid the expensive stuffy hotels for tea. Only complaint is that it took about 30 minutes for us to get our bill. Really nice ambience and decor!

You will recognise the address as there os an archway of plastic flowers at the entrance , hardly elegant. Inside the room is lovely and tables are good. They are set with heavy crockery and the tea is served in large willow pattern tea pots. This a shame as tea should be in bone china to complement the tea. The food was good and plentiful. We were four people and shared sandwiches and savoury option. Sweets were beautiful, scones large and crumbly. Service was ok, could be more professional and swift. Uniform might help. We celebrated a birthday and we were pleased that a little cake with candle was given our friend.

Staff was friendly but would be nicer if ordering could be clearer. We went for the afternoon tea. Was explained the menu but still pretty confused. Ended up ordering 3 pots of tea instead of 3 cups. (We thought they were included in the afternoon tea price £35pp) Food was good. Good ambient and a nice quiet spot near the busy high street.

Unfortunately, despite a positive experience communicating with the restaurant in advance of our reservation, the food was frankly terrible. We could barely choke down the stale sandwiches (no flavour whatsoever— I’ve had better from Tesco). Day old desserts were barely edible. My daughter normally loves macarons, she spit it out. They also tried to overcharge — we ordered 3 afternoon teas but they charged us for the 3rd pot— no idea why. I corrected it and had them remove the discretionary gratuity. Music was more suited to a club atmosphere. Definitely not the experience we were looking for — save your money!

A lovely little find. Excellent afternoon tea even if it isn't good value for money. The food is great but the service is typically poor with untrained staff. First pot of tea had so much tea in it the spout clogged and we had to ask for another pot. After the second pot was finished I had to go to the bar to attract the waiter's attention and ask for a fresh pot with new clean cups as the dregs in the cups we were using had got cold. When he brought the fresh pot he looked at my used cup with cold tea and asked "are you going to finish that ?". He swapped the old cups for the new cups but left empty plates on the table. Each new cup and saucer came with its own individual strainer and as he didn't take the old strainers away it meant we now had four strainers and their trays clogging up the table. There was one smoked salmon sandwich left on the plate and when my guest said she didn't like smoked salmon, the waiter replied by saying " I love salmon, I even have a tattoo of one on my arm ", as he lifted his elbow and motioned to unbutton his shirt sleeve at which point I said " we don't need to see it". But it was too late, and his sleeve was unrolled and we were now treated to his salmon tattoo. Where do they find these people ? Thankfully it wasn't busy. Perfect for a "daddy" date.

Loved it! The food was so good, although I don't like truffle so I stayed away from that one pasty. Great time!
