Le thé représente l'une des traditions du Drake Hotel. Le Palm Court sert le thé depuis les fêtes de fin d'année de 1982 et a reçu des personnalités telles que la défunte Princesse Diana et Hilary Clinton. En 1958, la reine Élizabeth a également pris le thé au Drake. La beauté unique de la salle s'organise autour d'une magnifique fontaine en pierre calcaire, ornée d'une énorme urne de 275 ans en son centre, un bronze français de David Williams. Le thé de l'après-midi jouit d'une ambiance exceptionnelle grâce aux concerts de harpe que donnent des musiciens en tenue de soirée du mercredi au dimanche.

Palm Court Holiday Tea

Holiday tea in Palm Court is a Real Chicago tradition for generations of families during the holiday season. A seating in Palm Court places you near the iconic fountain adorned with holiday flora and overlooking the lobby Christmas tree and gingerbread display, guests will sip quintessential tea while reveling in the spirit of the season. A live harpist will play for all seating times, with holiday carolers performing on select dates through Christmas. Reservations are heavily encouraged. Full tea service seating duration is 90 minutes max.
Afternoon Tea

For those who love their afternoon teas fresh and steeped in history, Palm Court at The Drake Hotel serving tea for nearly a century is the quintessential Magnificent Mile afternoon tea experience. Even the Queen and Princess Diana have made their visits here. Your afternoon tea begins with a peruse of the Palais de Thes menu, which features 15 tea blends. Tea is served in individual tea pots accompanied by three tiered tea tray filled with an arrangement of gourmet finger sandwiches; delicious breads and scones; and dainty petit fours with accoutrement. The Prince & Princess Afternoon tea service, suitable for children between 3 and 12 years of age. Reservations are heavily encouraged. Full tea service seating duration is 90 minutes max.

The ambiance was lovely. The service was spotty, once we were seated and brought our food/drinks we did not see our server until the meal was over.

The biscuits were cold, hard and bone dry. They were very difficult to eat. The tables were super tiny. there was no space to organize anything my partner and I are both to big heavy set persons and were crammed Into a tiny table in some obscure corner. We were soo uncomfortable that I had to leave the table go upstairs and change my clothes so I could feel more comfortable. I’ve been to lots of tea houses before and I know it gets humid and warm because of the hundreds of tea pots but my partner and I were sweating profusely. I was planning on proposing to him today there and honestly we didn’t even finish our trays of food. We boxed them up and enjoyed it better upstairs in our beds. I don’t even think we lasted 30 minutes before we ordered our check. It is what it is. Nothing we can about it now. But definitely not coming back nor recommending it to anyone. I’ve got to say, I’m really disappointed.

This was a treat. Our server and the staff were very nice. The tea selection was good, but as a big tea drinker I would have preferred a few more options. The quality of the options available was very nice. The food was tasty, but again I would have liked a bit more traditional tea sandwich options, such as a thinly sliced radish sandwich, curried chicken salad sandwich, egg salad sandwich, thinly sliced shrimp, etc. The scone was nice and I loved the lemon curd (not overly sweet), Devonshire cream, and raspberry jam. I thought the sweets we had were fair at best with the caramel apple pop being my favorite. The gluten free options for my wife were very appreciated. They graciously brought more of whatever we wanted. In all, a nice, but a bit pricey for what was offered.

We made a reservation but waited a good 15 minutes to be seated. The website said fall themed but there were only fake spiderwebs throughout…I expected more elegance.
